Not sure how widespread it was, but where we live there was quite a storm during the night with plenty of thunder and lightning to accompany the heavy rain - somewhere between 20-30 mm.

Got some dark clouds and rumbling thunder here in Hin Lek Fai. No rain yet, but I’m sure it is coming.

I've just got back from an aborted walk around Khao Tao Lake. We got about 1/3 of the way around, and saw a very ferocious sky looking back at us. A quick about turn, and we were sat in the cafe less than a minute when the skies opened. A happy escape.

The following is what the Thai Met dept see:
Weather Warning
Active low-pressure cell over the lower Bay of Bengal
No. 1 Time Issued March 20, 2022

The active low-pressure cell over the lower Bay of Bengal will develop to tropical cyclone. It’s expected to move to the upper Bay of Bengal, then covers Myanmar from 20 to 22 Mar, 2022. This storm leads to the winds prevailing over the western part of Thailand will strengthen.
What they don't tell you is that there is a big high pressure area to the East of Thailand, which will effectively block any flow from the West.

Yeah, we have the rain now, but it is a disappointing amount. I hope we get a lot more.

About 23.20 Soi 94 area I was 2/3 way home on my bike with literally not a care in the world, no thought of weather at all.

Then within 30 seconds I was soaked to the skin and was literally struggling to stay on 2 wheels. Wind was really fierce and dead into the way I was going.

OK whilst I got very wet was glad I only got it for 1 minute before getting under cover

What you might call a 'super squal'

According to ThaiMet

Hua Hin had ELEVEN times the average monthly rainfall for February! (176mm versus 16mm)

The average monthly expected rainfall for March in Hua Hin is 54mm

"The average monthly expected rainfall for March in Hua Hin is 54mm"

Of which we appear to have had 33mm this month to date

As Pete suggests the forecast for the rest of the month is very unsettled and plenty of showers.

Although personally I find the Windy app to be mostly inaccurate with their rainfall predictions. Certainly in terms of where I play golf 9 times out of ten they say I'm going to get a fair amount of rain and I don't get any(for which I'm very grateful! Image)

Over the last 12 months I have found the Google Weather app(Weather.com) to be much more reliable in terms of both Hua Hin and where I play golf.

And as I write this there has just been a short sharp shower but that was predicted by both apps! Image

A general question. Did the UK ever use Fahrenheit for temp measurement instead of Celsius? I ask as I know many in the UK still like to use the old weights/measurements such as pounds/yards/acres etc., but I don't know if you ever used Fahrenheit as the US still does.
