I don't think they've saved a lot Pete -the knives will be out without a doubt.... I just hope there's no violence after this result - feelings will certainly be running high.

I know I'm tired, but I saw Muller score that goal. The BBC has it credited to Schurrle, giving him 2 at minutes 69 and 79.

Savage is a joke and the beeb need to get a grip! Not sure, but I thought the last time we played them it was 2-2 and that would have been the majority of tonight's team.

Scolari just doesn't pick a good side, he had players on the bench far better than those on the pitch. PSG must be well chuffed about the performance of their latest centre-back.

Germany were terrific and did all they needed to do as clinically as you would expect, but how bad were Brazil? Bloody awful is the answer.

You are tired Pete. Schurrle got 6 & 7.

After their 1st match I commented that they wouldn't be much without Neymar. Seems correct tonight.

Unless Argentina or Holland produce a miracle, I think the Germans go home with the cup.

I hope for Brazil's sake they take 3rd. It won't be easy for them to get up for that match, and god forbid if it's Argentina and they lose.

Brazils defending wasnt even Conference standard.....even Macc Town wouldnt be 5-0 down against the Germans after 29 minutes.
And has there ever been a worse striker in the competion than Fred ? He has been woeful every match.
How on earth did he manage 34 goals in 88 games for Lyon between 2005-09 ? Five years is a long time in football, obviously !

:agree:

Even with Neymar and Silva, they would probably still have been beaten (imo), just not thrashed as they were.
The defensive display was just about as bad as it gets and the lack of conviction seemed to spread through the whole team.

Credit to the Germans though, they took full advantage.
They fed off the mistakes and indecision with ruthless efficiency, barely getting into top gear

The second half was almost like a testimonial or pre season friendly game :?

Tweet from Comedy Central (a US cable network), after the game ended: "Germany just treated Brazil like Brazilians treat pubic hair."

I'm not a football fan but I've just read on the net that Germany scored more goals last night than England have in two entire World Cups, is that true?

What`s the German word? schadenfreude? Brazil thought they had divine permission to just turn up and He would do the rest.

What can you say about Holland and Argentina besides YAWN. ....and why didn't Van Gaal save his 3rd substitution to put Krul back in for penalties as he did before? Stick with what works!

End game predictions:

Netherlands 2 Brazil 1. Brazil I don't think has any desire to play the coming match.

Germany 3 Argentina 0

Couldn't agree more - certainly not a great advert for the exciting game..... The stats show that Holland had something like 3 shots on target in 120 minutes!! That to me is ridiculous.

Very surprised that Krul wasn't used again, especially after time and time again the press and commentators alike spouting the fact that Cillessen had never saved a penalty in his professional career..

I forget the name, but seems the 1 st penalty taker for Holland was somewhat inexperienced "from the spot" and was certainly a surprise as the one chosen. Holland were on the back-foot from the get go.

Hope to God the final is a little more exciting!!

Although no-one wants to play in the 3 rd place play-off, I'll guarantee no-one wants to lose it either. Can't believe Brasil will play that badly again (can they?).....

^ I don't think either team wants to play on Saturday. FIFA is under some pressure to ditch the 3rd/4th place match in the future from what I read.

Vlaar took the first penalty for the Dutch.....only because no-one else wanted to take the first one, apparently !
An absolute shocker of a match....after the first hour I was hoping a public announcement from the NCPO would come on to break up the tedium !
