Although it hasn’t been as heavy as yesterday, it’s been raining almost non-stop this morning - I’m almost hoping for it to stop!!

From Weather and Climate about Hua Hin

"February is a dry month with an average of 16mm (0.6in) rain. It rains on average a total of 1 days"

We could possibly get 10 times that this week alone!

It's just got a lot heavier in 94 area last 10 mins

As usual Thai Met are late with yesterday's numbers

The only way to forecast the weather, and see what is happening, is to look at the synoptic pressure charts. Whether or not the current rain is linked to climate change, is something that even Sir David cannot predict.
As I posted previously, the present unseasonal rain is entirely the result of a huge high pressure area both in China, and over the ocean to the east of China, causing the prevailng winds to swing around to the south east and blow across the open ocean collecting moisture. It will last until pressure conditions change.

Im sure a "pollution " expert can advise,
but why in gods name am i getting a current AQI reading of 129

Yes thank you Bigston

I'll have to work out how to find that report on their page. The link I've used in past is very slow to update and still hasn't as I write this

Also your report confirms what I've suspected for ages in that it's not measured midnight to midnight (it's actually 0700 to 0700)

So.... 'yesterday' Hua Hin got 93mm which is almost 6 times the monthly average in one day!

Plus it's smashed it down since 0700 so we might be on for a record wet February in Hua Hin??

Any 'old timers' on here got any wet February stories?

I know of an extremely cold snap for 5 days in Feb about 7 years ago but not wet

Whilst Sir David may not be able to predict individual weather events, what he can do with some degree of accuracy is to link mankind’s activities to climate change. There have always been unpredictable weather events but the droughts and floods are becoming more widespread and more frequent.

I think a lot of people dont stop and consider that it was not that long ago in earths history
a huge part of the globe was in the grips of a very long ice age
we are in a cycle, depending who you listen to, where we are supposedly hurtling towards another one .
but 8 Billion people on a tiny planet are having a pretty decent crack at upsetting the course of nature
im rather glad to have been born in the decade i was
as for my kids, well ,,,,,,,

There is no doubt that climate change is happening, the only argument is; how much is caused by human activity.
But this thread is about the about the weather, a continually changing daily phenomenon.

Great Intel thanks

Be interesting to see the Hua Hin station(near Soi 51) figure for today( until 0700 tomorrow).

Could well be higher than today's 93mm
