I love the way figures are presented here:
Apisamai Srirangson, spokeswoman for the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said later in the afternoon briefing that the 44 new fatalities were 29-92 years old. Twenty-six were men. Forty-two were Thais. The rest were Myanmar and Lao nationals.
The rest (2 people) were made up of Myanmar and Lao nationals!

The lady giving the briefing for the CCSA really doesn't want to be there.

She is very nervous, but is brilliant now compared to her first few outings.

I agree. She has improved considerably. I'm only guessing but if she was asked whether she'd rather not do these briefings, I think the answer would be "No. Give me something else to do." :)

My daughter's just informed me of the new restrictions for Thais from July 1st.

No more State Quarantine for returning Thais. They have to book and pay in advance for a quarantine hotel for 14 days.
Thais entering the Phuket sandbox must have insurance (like foreigners) covering Covid-19. Despite getting free health care should they contract Covid under normal health rules.

Seems they're so desperate for cash that they're now throwing their own citizens under the bus.

Edit:
Free state quarantine for Thais set to end on July 1

Capital reports first Beta strain case

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... train-case

The first case of Beta variant, originally detected in South Africa, has been found in Bangkok, a source said.

An initial investigation found that the infected patient is linked to an infection case in Narathiwat, according to the source.

Department of Medical Sciences director-general Supakit Sirilak will hold a press conference on the issue on Monday.

The Beta variant found spreading in the deep South of Thailand is believed to have come from Malaysia... (Continued at link)

I think a worse effect will be the working class in Bangkok returning to their home villages etc. The living conditions of the working class in Bangkok are more akin to spreading Covid. These people are now being forced to return to the 4 corners of Thailand whilst Bangkok closes.
