How else can they cope with and contain the virus?
There aren't enough hospital beds and staff to deal with all the infections and treat regular patients.
No one, anywhere, really knows what to do other than close the barn door after the horses have left ,in hopes that there are still some horses in the barn.
We could go back to walled cities and when there's an epidemic, lock the gates so no one can come in or go out. Beware of wooden elephants and Indians bearing gifts.

Countries around the world suffered all these consequences through 2020. There were successes and failures. All Thailand had to do was learn from those experiences. Instead they ignored everything because Thailand knows better!

The irony is that Thailand was the second country in the world to get a Covid case - and it will be the last one to vaccinate its population and clean up the mess.
A true example of doing things "Thai style" where money, greed, corruption, and galloping incompetence rules!

The doctor who reported recently that daily cases could hit 10,000 may be right. Cases continue to rise with todays cases topping 4,000 even following claims that many hospitals are cutting back on testing for fear of running out of beds.
Does any other country hospitalise EVERYONE who tests positive regardless of severity?

Songkran was too important to cancel for a 2nd consecutive year.

Double standards and corruption. Illegal immigrants from neighbouring countries brought Covid due to corrupt business owners. Those coming with planes doing 16 days quarantine were milked for money and locked up in hotels.
Than came the gambling and horny politicians that went to illegally open luxury clubs which mostly deals with undercover prostitution too. From there it spread.
Can't control a pandemic with these underlying factors!
