Should be well protected now (l hope !!)

I walked into Bluport at about 12:30 this afternoon for my Pfizer booster. When I got there I contemplated turning around and trying next week, a little earlier, so many were the people already waiting in the rows of chairs. I envisioned sitting there all afternoon, and did not relish it. I decided to just stick with it and get it over with, and I’m glad I did. Everything ran efficiently and I do believe I walked out of there with my booster in under an hour. I had my yellow book with me, as well as the original paper I got with my first two shots. The nurse put the sticker on that, rather than in the yellow book. When I asked about this, she told me that I needed to wait three days, and then take it to HHH for the proper third entry.

The head of Pfizer also said that they needed to produce a vaccine that would last at least a year. Golly, gee, wow, did he think of that all by him own self?

I was turned away from Blueport today as my Pfizer wasn't due for another 10 days! I was on the Expatvac scheme, but hadn’t heard anything?

I only reason I knew about these Tuesday walk-ins at Bluport was because of this thread. And ten days difference sure seems to be nitpicking.

It felt like it as I had sat for 40 mins in what is effectively a car park, with very few fans!

I think they may just possibly have a vested interest in saying that - don't you?

In the meantime, and as mentioned in the New York Times article I quoted earlier, a number of scientists are saying that they are seeing diminishing returns from additional doses and that a fourth dose may not be needed (for healthy adults) for at least 4-5 years, if ever.

Obviously Covid is no longer the number one subject in most peoples thoughts, but it would seem that getting vaccines out to the third world countries for 1st/2nd shots would be better than giving second boosters!!

It seems the President of Moderna also disagrees with the the Pfizer CEO.

A fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will likely only be necessary for elderly and immunocompromised people but not for the general public, Moderna president Stephen Hoge told Business Insider on Monday.

Is that because Moderna doesn't have a new variation on their vaccine?

How can anyone believe anything the drug companies tell us?

No, it's because he's looked at the data and seen that multiple studies show there are minimal benefits in a fourth dose for most healthy adults.

Pfizer doesn't have a "new variation" on its vaccine either, so I'm not sure what relevance that has.

We can believe them if what they say is backed up by reliable scientific research data.

FWIW, yet another new study, this time from Israel, came to a similar conclusion (though admittedly it only looked at a particular subset of adults). The study, from Sheba Medical Center Tel Hashomer in Ramat Gan, collected data on boosters using both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines and:

concluded that "a fourth vaccination of healthy young health care workers may have only marginal benefits."

Just wanted to share, if anyone was interested, any side effects after getting my Pfizer booster on Tuesday.

By the time I went to bed late, late that evening…nothing. Got up at 9am for school, kind of a sore arm at the injection site. By the second hour of class, 11am, I was kinda squirming because I had a backache that made me uncomfortable. That came and went until early Thursday. Battled it with two doses of Tylenol.

Friday…still have that sore arm, and now it’s kind of itchy. That’s it. Hopefully I won’t grow an arm out of my forehead or anything. I know everyone probably reacts differently, but that was my tale of woe! Haha, thanks for reading.

If you grow that 3rd arm, photos please, else it won't be true

My experience with the Pfizer booster was usual sore arm for 24 hours and then about 3 days later experienced the sore arm syndrome for a few days. Nothing serious but could notice it whilst swimming.
