I've not heard anything from our governor about alcohol sales, so I assume we can buy alcohol in Prachuab from tomorrow. Hope I've not spoken too soon!

I think the other train of thought is that people will start to make homemade hooch, which can open a totally different can of worms.

Haha. That's already happening. I know several expats who have been making their own for a while now!

Beer that is. Don't know anyone with a still.

Maybe beer is OK, but for wine it's another story. Grapes are expensive.
I heard gin is easy to make, but not whisky.

The governor of Sa Kaeo province has extended the alcohol sales ban until 31st May. The general consensus is that some other governors will follow.
Sa Kaeo Governor releases provincial order banning sales of alcohol to May 31 as Governor’s now have authority over this measure
Following an announcement yesterday from a National Thailand level that a ban on the sales of alcohol from a National level appeared to be reversed effective tomorrow, May 3, after an order in the Royal Gazette, which was later confirmed by the National Security Council, some Provincial Governors, who have the authority to strengthen orders have taken the matter into their own hands.

I've read this and many other articles. Is booze legally back on sale in Prachuap today or not? Are the scaremongers spreading FAKE news to ensure they are at the head of the queue at 11am today? It is amazing how some sick people get their pleasure out of other people's misery.

I don't drink, but would just like the the true answer.

I think this says "yes". But we'll know in 5 minutes.

Alcohol sector wields power

https://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/postbag
A gentleman expresses his worries that criminal enterprises may start moving into Thailand to cover demand for alcoholic drinks.

Some of them have been there for a long time, are quite strong in the market and support the government.

At Makro Pranburi they were selling alcohol before 11am this morning. It’s like the Klondike- outside the carpark is full of pick-up trucks down on their axles with precariously loaded boxes of beer and whiskey. Makro must have made a months sales in a morning.
Another Mickey Mouse production

So with all this panic buying of booze, is everyone expecting another lock down?

I shouldn't think so!

Funny thing is at around midday, Makro Cha-am and Big C in Cha-am their alcohol sales were still prohibited, the former saying they didn't know until when and the latter saying until the end of the month, but added "Prachuap open".
Luckily, I know another man who, despite admiiting he was 'ngong' (confused), kindly did the honours...with the help of a blanket

Seems a lot of confusion in provinces. What is needed is for each governor to stipulate what restrictions are being enforced in their own province. The government can state the maximum but it's up to the governors to state the situation in their own province.
Not rocket science is it?
