Re: Car Challenge?
So close and yet so far!
As we've had a couple of AC questions, here's a third, could be a quickie.
What is/was AC's best selling model ever, the one they sold the most of.

Well, having mentioned this one to the "old foak" (fount of all knowledge), the old man reckons it was a 3-wheeler - I've got no idea of the name, but the picture I have in my head is the old invalid cars
A far cry from the Cobra or the Ace ........ of course unless the old bugger is winding me up!!

You were of course correct Bristolian - apologies for the delay but was otherwise engaged - this particular car was apparently a 1961 vintage!!Bristolian wrote:With a little help from Uncle G![]()
The AC Greyhound
The AC Greyhound was released in 1959 and ran until 1963. A two door, 4 seater with an aluminium body. In total 83 units were produced, 3 of which were left hand drive and the rest right hand drive. Easily confused with some Aston Martin models.

Re: Car Challenge?
The 'old bugger' is right.
5928 AC 'Acedes' were built and all sold to the Ministry of Health/DHSS between 1950 and 1977 making them by far the most units for any AC model ever made, any color you like ... as long as it's Ice Blue. They were replaced by the Motability scheme in 1977 and eventually banned from the roads in 2003.
The Motability scheme in the UK is the largest fleet operator in Europe and owned by everyone's favorite businesses; Barclays, Lloyds, HSBC and RBOS. 10% of UK new car sales are to Motability.
Imagine what AC could produce sports car wise if they were still supplying Motability with little blue triangles.
Extra special quiz extra points round. Is that a MK2 Lotus Cortina behind the AC ?

I would say yes, pity you can't see the small Lotus badge that would be on the rear wing panel, but certainly looks like one.Frank Hovis wrote:The 'old bugger' is right.

Re: Car Challenge?
Is that a Norwegian flag on the middle right? Otherwise I would have said U.S.A. somewhere based on the taxi cabs and police attire.......??
Photographers are facing/shooting down the photo so something going on there?
Take a wild guess and say Kennedy assassination??
GN..
Edit: not that the above has any relationship to a car challenge...

Re: Car Challenge?
On September 3, 1967 (aka H-Day), Sweden switched from driving on the left-hand side of the road to the right. The result was chaos in the streets.
India will try this in the future but need to decide whcich side of the road they crrently drive on

Is that with or without IRS.Terry wrote:Looks like a TR4a in the middle right.

It looks like there would've been a bit less chaos if all the pedestrians had stayed on the pavements. The result was chaos in the streets.

OK, here`s an easy one. Both vehicles? Bristolian, go and find some work to do for a couple of hours.
