looks to me like he drew short straw and was given the job of holding the bollard up till the concrete set

Cycled up to Wat Huay Mongkol on Saturday for the first time in a few years and its amazing the expansion this temple has undergone. There are now lakes, pagodas, fountains, parkland, bus parking, ATMs - that jatukam trade must have filled the coffers no end!

Anyone remember this Malarkey?
They probably stopped doing it between 10 and 15 years ago but it was a well know activity prior to that.
I would offer a token prize for an explanation of what's going on but I'm in London and at this rate won't be back until Christmas..mind you a beer's good anytime!
