If you use the link I posted for 2005, and take out the Songkran and New Year period it looks like a normal daily average of 33 dead and 413 injured. The injuries arrived at using 8% as this looks like the death/hurt ratio from the other Songkran figures I have. The link doesn't list injuries. Pete

Has the Death and injuries stats for last long weekend been released yet?
It's awful to see so many Thais being injured every songkrab and New Year.

No, I only have through last friday which is posted above. Maybe later today I'll see an update. Per the government, they are counting 7 days from last Wednesday so tomorrow will be the last official count day, as everyone begins to head home starting now. Pete

Well, this was my first Songkran and I have to say it was a great experience. I had a lot of fun. Tho I did get talc in my eyes several times >_<

Too bad some guys had to take advantage of it all. One farang slapped me on the ass and several Thai guys tried to cop a feel whilst smearing wet talc on my face. NOT cool >:-(
It's a small world after all...

The final figures after day 7 are reported at 361/4805. :(

Just FYI, it's not over yet. The road carnage may be but not all the small accidents and festivities.

Those that know the eastern seaboard, Ban Chang ( west of Rayong City) had theirs on Tuesday as did Sattahip so I am told. Naklua just north of Pattaya had theirs on Wednesday, Pattaya City today, Jomtien tomorrow. Hopefully all should be over and done by Saturday or Sunday.

I ventured out today a bit to see what was happening and came home quickly. Sukhumvit Highway was grid lock as far as you could see in both directions, no way to get downtown to the beach area even on an MC taxi. Walking only and then face the gauntlet. We saw the white/blue Pattaya/Bangkok large public busses on our little dirt road here trying to get back to Sukhumvit north of Naklua for the trip to Bangkok. Impossible for them to navigate the main roads.

Many fender benders, mostly pick up trucks with the back loaded with people and water buckets.

The Thai's out numbered the farangs at least 50 to 1. Party hardy for sure in this area, and it's many more local folks than tourists.. :D Pete :cheers:

After the 13th here in HH - which we all enjoyed - I tried to cross Petchkasem Road on the 14th wondering whether anyone would "shoot" me.
Didn't happen, although there were plenty of pickups with passengers and water cannons.
Maybe the police directive got through to them all?
Sunday was the worst. There's a Chinese-Thai restaurant down at the bottom of my road. Naturally, they were paying respect to their elders.
BUT, the total lack of consideration for pedestrians and it seemed me in particuar was terrible. That road is bad enough to try to cross at the best of times. It dosn't help when idiots are trying to park illegally and get me out of the way. "No way - run me over".
Anyway, it must have have taken me a good 5 minutes to negotiate the road both ways. No water throwing, just inconsiderate idiots. I think some of them got the message. They certainly didn't say anything back.
Rant over. Sunday was the worst in my neck of the woods.
