Dubois! I'm looking forward to (hoping for) Hrgovic then Joshua then Fury for the big win. I don't have money on it.

Re: The Boxing Thread
Another twist in the IBF/Usyk/Dubois/Hrgovic/Joshua saga?
Dubois-Hrgovic Sanctioned for 'Interim' IBF Title Bout
"Daniel Dubois' contest against Filip Hrgovic on Saturday will be for the IBF 'interim' heavyweight title.
The winner will be upgraded to world champion if Oleksandr Usyk is stripped of his IBF belt before a scheduled rematch with Tyson Fury in December.
Dubois, 26, will take on Croatia's Hrgovic – the number one ranked IBF fighter – as part of the Queensberry v Matchroom five versus five card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Usyk, who holds all four world titles, has requested an exemption from the IBF to defend his belt against Briton Fury rather than face his mandatory challenger next.
The IBF told BBC Sport that it "does not have a timeline as to when the decision will be made on Usyk’s exception request" but confirmed Dubois and Hrgovic will fight for the interim title.
The IBF added that the winner of Dubois-Hrgovic would be elevated to champion should Ukrainian Usyk vacate the belt.
There were suggestions Usyk could be forced to vacate before Saturday's event but it appears he will hold on to his undisputed title for the time being."

Dubois vs Hrgovic will be the chief support fight to the main event of Zhilei Zhang vs Deontay Wilder and is reportedly set to get underway at 11:15pm UK time.

Daniel Dubois vs Filip Hrgovic - for IBF interim heavyweight title
Hamzah Sheeraz vs Austin Williams

Re: The Boxing Thread
Dubois-Hrgovic was a very decent fight with Dubois earning a big win by TKO in the 8th - the fight being stopped after Hrgovic suffered serious looking cuts above both eyes. Dubois will take the IBF Title "IF" Usyk is stripped of the belt - if not, he's the Mandatory Challenger. I'm assuming if Usyk is stripped of the Title, then it'll be Dubois - Joshua later in the year (around the same time as Usyk's rematch with the Gypsy Clown Fury.
As for the so-called "Main Event", I can't remember watching such a dire Heavyweight Bout - well, at least for a long while. Ultimately Zhang floored Wilder in the 5th with 2 haymakers - aside from that though, neither fighter did much. This must mark the end of Wilder's career - TBH it seemed he'd retired before even getting into the ring. Zhang doesn't have much to offer, yes he's got a lot of weight behind a huge punch, but he has a hellish low work-rate and leaves himself open. Can't see the top fighters having much of a problem dispatching him based on his last few displays.
Did you get to see any of the bouts cameljockey?

Re: The Boxing Thread
It's on then...
I think Joshua at his best will stop Dubois, though much to come for the latter. I'd love to see Joshua put the Gypsy Clown on his ample @rse later on, but Joshua vs Usyk III could well be on the cards. That said, I can also see Usyk dropping back down to Cruiserweight after the rematch with Fury, or even retiring - after all, he's proved himself at both weights.
"Anthony Joshua will face fellow Briton Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium on 21 September.
Undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt on Tuesday and interim champion Dubois, 26, was elevated to champion status as a result.
Two-time world champion Joshua, 34, is on a four-fight winning streak and has three stoppages in his past three bouts.
Dubois has won his past two fights, stopping Jarrell Miller in December and Filip Hrgovic this month to become interim champion.
Ukrainian Usyk initially requested that he not be stripped of the IBF belt so the undisputed title could remain on the line when he faces Britain's Tyson Fury in a rematch on 21 December, but then changed his mind.
"Anthony and Daniel, I know the IBF title is important to you. It is my present to you on 21 September," Usyk said in a video message on X."

Joshua vs Dubois - Saturday 21st September, Wembley Stadium, London
I'm hoping for a Joshua win, but he'll need to actually box rather than underestimate his opponent. Of course there are many looking for a different result and fair enough - I just don't agree with regards to Dubois current ability or frame of mind.
That said, the "Bookies" have it fairly close (though Joshua is favourite) - what do you think "cameljockey"?
Coverage starts at around 4pm (UK) on various SKY Channels, but the "Ring Walk" is expected to be around 11pm (UK Time).
Looking forward to this one and hope AJ is at his best

That will be great I think. I went to the one with Frank Bruno about 9-10 years ago. I don't remember which hotel but lovely dinner and a good chance to interact with him and listen to his story. It's not me in the photo ....

Damn, I was thinking you looked quite good in a red dress!

Come on now, knowing you're a Dubois fan, how do you think the fight's going to go? I get the feeling Dubois will go in fast and hard, but AJ will keep his distance at the start. Mid to later rounds will tell and I have AJ in around the 8th.

Joshua has the experience and the reach, he'll start cagey as you say. And yes Dubois is on a good recent run and will want to hurt AJ early, but I could even see it going the distance if AJ feels he's got rounds under his belt and Dubois doesn't lose his head (mentally

Damn, now I've shot the albatross - Dubois on his back in the eighth ....

Ringwalk expected at 4.45 am if I don't watch the undercard, not sure how I'll play it. Maybe just wake up for the fight and watched the undercard later. A shame to break it up but we'll see.pharvey wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 1:35 amHell, we might just see Joshua on his @rse in the 2nd!!404cameljockey wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 8:50 pm Damn, now I've shot the albatross - Dubois on his back in the eighth ....![]()

All that remains to be seen is how long the winner can dodge a fight with Usyk!

Enjoy!

AJ down three times in the first four rounds and out on his feet for a lot of the fourth. This is interesting.

AJ's left hand is much too low. I won't post any more in case anyone is going to watch later today.
