Just one more question for you folk that have done the visa-run to this site..having paid the 900B fee..does that include the $10 that they usually want (pristine notes only)..or as with the Andaman Club's fee..the 10 Bucks are part of the deal..??

The 10 pristene dollars is a Ranong scam only. Don't need it anywhere else.

I'd say the 10 USD at Ranong/Kawthung is the best deal ever.

If you don't have a tourist visa for Myanmar then 10 USD for a 10 day stamp is cheap. The only other costs are the boat which, if you don't mind sharing, is only about 50 baht each way or 400 baht if you want it all to yourself.

You don't need to pay the 10USD if you already have a 800 baht Myanmar tourist visa from the embassy in BKK.

Right then you lot..listen-up!
The Usual suspect needed to get the outlaws back to Issan..I also needed a 'visa stamp'..mmm?
Here's a run down of that day...

7am..Left H.H. loaded with wife, kids & various 'other family members'.
Headed up to Ratchaburi, left turn when you see the SECOND flyover-bridge over highway 4..look for signpost saying Chom Beung.
Followed directions I'd got off Google, plus some off this thread also.
(note..on arriving at Dan Makarm Tia..take the 2nd left turn, & follow the road..you know you're on the right road when it does a 90' left after about 2-3km..followed by a Y-fork another 2 ckicks on..TAKE RIGHT FORK HERE..& FOLLOW Rd.4010).
After a hearty roadside meal we arrived at about 11am..parked-up on left side near barriers next to a green-coloured cafe..good coffee here, plus they have Western style toilets.. :thumb:
After this cafe is the immigration cabin..walk up & slide open one or both the 2 small windows to check for personel in there..(Have you filled in your departure card prior to doing this..? Nah..thought not..pen anyone..??)
Once you've got your pazzy back proceed onwards to your right to the semi-official area that doubles up as a cafe-decking..chairs tables etc..plus more immo-officers..hand over your pazzy again, plus 2 colour copies of the photo page..OR hand over 10Baht & they'll do the copies there n then.
Now wait till they ask you to board one of the waiting minivans..jump in..off to the border-post..at which the co-pilot will ask for your pazzies plus 900B..once handed over you wait there in the van for 5-10 mins, he returns, you get ya pazzy back..van does a U-turn.
Van drops you off at opp side of road you came in on..go to building there on that side..find an open widow...get stamped back in..CHECK THE DATE..
..all done within an hour..

Best bit was every officer was chatty & polite.
The drive there up Phu Nam Ron took 4 hours including meal-stop..(I drive ~90kph)
...Ranong used to take me 6hrs each way, so it's a saving of 4 hours fuel & driving from H.H. Rtn.

After this we loaded up & headed for Issan via Kan'buri..(good road all the way to K'buri from here.)

Will deffo use this crossing post again, & 11am seemed a quiet time to be there.. :thumb:

Issan was Issan...took a supply of books, Yorkshire teabags & when they ran out started on the cheap big bottles of Leo.. :naughty:

Help me solve this pleace.
When leaving Denmark I have 2 entries at 60 day each in my passport
Got 60 days at arrivel in Suvernabhum and need to leave the country for the next 60 days.
Is that a visa run or a re entry and can I do it in Kanchanaburi ?
Can someone plz. explain the different in a easy way if its possible? :?
Normally I go to Ranong and do it there but would like to go Kanchanaburi for a holliday anyway.

Thanks.

Yes, you can go to Kanchanaburi (PHU NAAM RON) to exit Thailand and re-enter for your second entry.
I suppose you know that you can extend your 60 days visa by 30 days at Huahin immigration ?

Thank you US and Gerard.
I thougt it was like that but want to be sure.
I presume that a visa run is if you not have a visa but can get 15 or 30 days at the border, and a
re entry is were you allready have a visa and just got to get a stamp ?

Visa-run means that you go to a border to make a quick exit, without staying in the other country more than a few minutes or hours.

Re-entry is when you have a ONE YEAR VISA and want to spend a few days, weeks or months in another country without losing the remaining time on your visa. So, you can go out and re-enter on the same visa, and you have to ask for a "re-entry permit".

Somebody will correct me if I am wrong, thanks !

As I understand it, a visa run is when you go to the Thai Embassy/Consulate in another country to get a new visa. A border run (re-entry as bsdk means it) is simply a quick return crossing to get another 60 days within the terms of your existing visa or a 15/30 day stamp (visa-on-entry).

I have a 12 month extension of stay as a work permit holder. If I want to leave and return during that year, I need a re-entry permit from Immigration before I leave. If I don't have that when I return, I will have to enter as a visitor and go through the whole tedious process with immigration. The same applies for those with extensions of stay on the basis of retirement, marriage, etc.
This is the way

Thanks for correcting, all these terms are confusing (for a French even more...) and often misused !
