Your best eating places in Hua Hin

The only time I have tried Linns was a takeaway breakfast. I wouldn't have given it to my dog (me and my mate threw it in a bin). The sausage was off, the mushrooms covered in oil and the rest was nearly inedible (I think we only ate the hard, pavement like bacon). I said on the breakfast thread (I believe) that it was so poor that I simply am not willing to give them another chance. There are so many good, consistent places to go now (Barry's being my favourite) that get it right every time... I don't need to get 'hit and misses'.

May thee (Linns) get nil to no customers for the next dozen centuries for being lazy that day, and fobbing off a half cooked, half off, excuse for a decent breakfast....

It just occured to me that when discussing rsaurants nobody ever mentions the restaurants for which HH is famous, the seafood ones on the piers over the water. I always take first time visitors and visitors from BKK there and they are so impressed by the setting. The food is expensive and not outstanding but pretty good.

That's why I never mention them.
They don't really need a recommendation, as they are exactly what they appear to be and doing very nicely thank you by the look of things. Nothing wrong with them for the tourists, but of no interest to me.


EDIT: One thing that always strikes me is the variety of opinions on a handful of places. The vast majority of restaurants get a general consensus on quality, but there are one or two that some seem to love and others wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Linn's and All In Hua Hin spring to mind.
Perhaps the only surprise should be that there isn't a wider difference of opinion?

Yes and the setting and ambiance is so important to some and of little interest to others. Linns they say is a good B'fast place but it on a very dreary part of PKS and its like eating in a parking lot.
I'm not going to start a thread but an interesting one would be--- you are leaving HH for a year, where is the place that you would go for your last good-bye meal.

The seafood places in the center of town, at the pier, sadly have disappointed me. I've been there 3 times, and I was not impressed at all. Now myself and my wife go to a place in Khao Takib called Rua Rimtarn. It's shaped as a boat. We have been there around 30 times, and I we have never been let down by the quality there. And the prices are lower than the ones at the pier in town too.

Well, yesterday I had a huge craving for a delicious hamburger. So I went online to search for great hamburgers in Hua Hin. I'm not talking abut McDonalds and Burger King places here, but real homemade burgers. I came across a place called Grace's American Burgers and Grill so I had to take the wife and some of her family out for a meal. And what a meal! The wife and family had of course thai food, and they were very pleased with the quality, but I went for a burger, and since this is supposed to be an American style hamburger restaurant, my expectations were high!

And I was not dissapointed! I had the Texas Wagyu burger with cheese, bacon and bbq souce, served with savoury homemade fries. And what a burger. IMO the best hamburger I have ever had in Hua Hin/Thailand, and one of the best I've tasted anywhere for that matter. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place for all the hamburger lovers out there. I will for sure be back next time I want a real homemade hamburger.

The fact that the burger was made with Wagyu beef suggests it was fairly expensive - was that the case?

Wow After reading DB's comment on Wagyu beef, I've just looked it up - 3,000 Baht/Kilo seems to be a fair price. If it's genuine Wagyu beef, that's way out of my budget for a beef burger.

3,000 divided by 9 for a quarter pounder = 333 Baht before any add-ons.

I paid 500 baht for the burger, and imho worth every single baht. The size I'm not sure of, but it was more than sufficient for me.

Grace's used to be oceanside on Nebkahardt road. Do they have 2 now or did they move?

I had the regular burger there (regular beef). It was a while ago but I think it was 300b and it too was worth every baht. They also had a variety of hot dogs, bbq sandwiches, classic BLT, pizza and other American favorites including great milk shakes in a great outdoor setting by the sea. Other than prices my only knock would be that they also sold (American) Budweiser beer!

They shared that space with a Thai restaurant so it was perfect for me to get a burger while the missus ate Thai food.

They have moved from that location to the place I linked in my previous post. It's still a part of the Thai restaurant called You Yen. I think the full name is Grace's American Burgers and Grill @ You Yen.
