Re: What brand of vehicle manufacturer do/would you drive?
Good question Pete - I have been told they do, but I have reservations on that. Car manufacturers to me share a damned site more than they let on IMHO. I am told by several people working in the field in China, that on the chassis for example (fabricated/manufactured in Chongqing), Ford, Mazda, Toyota, Honda all share exactly the same on certain models (not to mention countless Chinese manufacturers also no doubt)!prcscct wrote:Just out of curiosity, does Hyundai make their own engines of is that strange size of 2.7 outsourced from someone else? On the 2.7 V6, I also thought this was a bit of a strange size, but later discovered also shared with several manufacturers - Hyundai, Ford, Audi, Chrysler etc. I'm not sure whether this is limited to the Chinese/Asian market or not.

Pete, I'd really lik eot have details of what you changed, where and how much it cost. I've a PS too, and would love to have better stopping and turning ability.prcscct wrote:I just re-did the entire suspension of my PS. Already had 18" wheels so put larger disks on the front, disks on the back, new springs and shocks, gas assist on the front. Totally different vehicle. Before in turns you would get a lot of uncomfortable lean, no more. The brakes were also spongy and faded with quick stops, no more. All I have to do now is take out the diesel and put in a 427 V-8, then I have a real runner.![]()

My better half is looking for the receipt now...seems she has misplaced it.Winkie wrote:Pete, I'd really like to have details of what you changed, where and how much it cost. I've a PS too, and would love to have better stopping and turning ability.

In the interim, as mentioned I already had changed to 18" wheels so changed to larger front disk brakes using the existing Mitsu calipers. If you still have your 16" wheels, you really need to do nothing unless you just want a better quality disk. Changed the rear drum brakes to disk. Added heavy duty, non-gas shocks to the back. Added automatic gas assist shocks to the front. Heavy duty coil springs all around. My 'lean' when cornering was much worse after I changed to the 18" wheels. I guess I changed the center of gravity. The new springs help greatly but there is still a little lean. Of course, speed is the factor. I'm OK now on looping expressway/tollway ramps at 80-85K without feeling like I'm falling out the door. The difference in braking is phenomenal. Pedal is now stiffer and not mushy and you actually have confidence you'll stop when and where you want to. Mitsu's answer to my initial concern about a soft pedal, which never got firm, and long stopping distances was "....all Mitsu brakes are like that...."
