One year in HH, another year in Cha Am. I noticed Cha Am was not included in the poll but since T.I.G.R. who lives in Cha Am voted I decided I would also.
After spending a year on the golf course in HH and a year on the beach in Cha Am I can say without hesitation I'd rather be on the beach in Cha Am. Truly loving it.
Yes all year round, one of the 48%. I think HH is a great place to be and I do not think it has changed that much in the 4 and a half years I have been here, The bullshit is still the same!! Jackanory!
Couldn't agree more, clive. I voted a while back (as a permanent resident), but didn't post. I go into town for shopping and the occasional meal/drink/bookswap, and I would say that in the 2 and a half years I've been in HH (including a few months in Cha Am) the only significant changes have been increases in the amount of traffic (and speed bumps, which now seem to be disappearing as suddenly as they appeared), in available 'farang stuff' and in general complaints about how awful it is here now compared to 3000 years ago.
Getting of the subject slightly, if you mean the sleeping policemen in Soi 56 heading towards B/Mountain then it may be because a certain member of the royalty is building a new home and a park up there and maybe that certain person travels up that road sometimes and maybe!!! slapped wrists!!!
Luckily, I've only ever stayed in Huahin when I've been on holiday.
I've been happily situated in Cha-am for over 6 years and have no intention of going back to "blighty."
Just moved down here about 4-5 months ago after 7 years on a barstool in bangkok. moved down for a better environment to raise my young son. still have to go up for business reasons 2 to 3 days a week (tragedy, that is). so i'm going to check permanent HH resident anyway.
Voted as being resident for 6 months as there was not an option for 2 months. We look forward to the day when we can pack our few possessions and set up full time in HH. Financially we will be not be in a position to make the move for several more years. Still 8 weeks each year makes the other 10 months passably bearable. Anyway a further complication is that the Aus $ has fallen from an average of about 30 baht to 21 baht – that hurts big-time. Good luck to those of you who were able to buy at higher exchange rates.
