Couldn't agree more Baa Baa. I heard the Cash version before I checked out the NIN version. I thought theirs was a big bucket of poo compared to his.

As you say its like it was written for him. Too spooky...

I've just watched the video a few times and can honestly say it's the best music video ever made.

It's like he's done his own obituary.

I saw a documentary about Cash, his family struggle to watch that video for the same reasons.

The song is The Skids - Into The Valley

dont look up the lyrics...its spoils the fun.

the only other great song they left was The Saints Are Coming.....bet y didnt know that was one of theirs eh?

sm,
I was a big Skids fan in my day and they did far more good tracks than you are giving them credit for. Charade, Working For The Yankee Dollar, Circus Games, Sweet Suburbia etc etc. Shame Richard Jobson was such a twat though!

I've managed to download bit of stuff lately including:
Some Hawkwind
Joe Jackson - best of
The Specials - best of
Joni Mitchell - Ladies of the Canyon
Peter Green Splinter Group - didn't realise it was video. One set acoustic, one electric
Steve Hillage
Steve Miller
Velvet Underground
Oh and about 34 of Van Morrison's albums.

So, I'm pretty much stuck in that groove musically at the moment. Astral Weeks is going on next.

As it goes, I managed to get "Epochelipse". It's got "Silver Machine" obviously. And then Master of the Universe, Sonic Attack, Motorhead, and loads of others .
Heres Master of the Universe. Come on Dave Brock and Lemmy the rest of them. Rock and roll.

rock on sandman :thumb:

apart from my usual doses of planet rock radio, i've been listening to a few modern(ish) rock bands recommended by my redzonenephew :D

quite like this mob, porcupine tree.
easy listening & a good mix of acoustic & electric guitar. :thumb:

i like the lyrics on this one too :thumb:

back to the loud stuff

heaven & hell aka 'sabs' & the unmistakeable, unique riffs of mr iommi

Nick Drake - Northern Sky......reminds me of kicking through the autumn leaves in Crouch End park

Skunk Anansie - Hedonism......reminds me why Im here

red

have you ever hear the Black Sabbath: Nativity In Black tribute albums? There are some ripper covers on them which show just how powerful the Sabs music is.....

Supernaut by 1000 Homo DJs is a classic...The Wizard is pretty mean too.

the you tube version has crappy sound.....the album version rocks

NIB2 has covers like Busta Rymes & Ozzy doing Iron Man, Godsmack doing Sweet Leaf.....classic

This week Radio sandman will be mostly listening to Mr Nat King Cole, Mr Frank Sinatra, and those ckeeky young lads the Revolting Cocks.

I have just decided to dip my toe in the sea that is Jazz!

I know bugger all about the music except to enjoy it you have to have a beard with bits of food in it and speak in tounges.

I have done my research and yesterday purchased 3 albums which I was reliably informed by a beardy weirdy were the puppies to start off with.

They were - Miles Daves - the birth of cool. John Coltrane - A love supreme and Cannonball Adderley - somethin' else.

I have to say they are all toe tappin marvellous. And indeed I have already contemplated growing a goatie and buying some ray banns... :blues:

You're not going ZZ Top are you, Randy? I doubt it with jazz.
At the moment, after a haircut, it's Screamadelica - Primal scream. Got to get back to my hippie roots.
