The iPhone thread
Re: The iPhone thread
It's the Apple users sound byte, they simply work as Apple have told me they should work, god forbid reading reviews of the best others have to offer, just wait for the next (slightly behind) offer from Apple.
The latest iphone wouldn't be in the top 5 phones on the market, Samsung, HTC and Motorola have all got better hardware.
And you stick itunes Thankyou very much.

Re: The iPhone thread
A 1-2 years ago I'd have agreed with Hollister that the iPhone was about the best option, but no way now, although I don't know if the iPhone 5 has bridged the gap of what it can't do that it should. This SG2 still amazes me 4 months on, everytime I get time to muck about with it and add apps, but partucularly the 'home theme launchers'... it still has loads of surprises. I was a big fan and defender of Apple on here, they did lead the way and we'd probably be a few steps back if it weren't for their innovation. And they are dead reliable and very good at what they 'can' do.
But there's too much they can't do for my personal use. Plus the screen size & quality is way behind, this Samsung screen is big enough view, type on in a comfortable way. They apps do crash a bit too often, but there's options to change them for other and the crashes clear with one click usually. The battery life is a downer but goes with the territory of large screen that you use for many things.
I'd say both the iPhone and Samsung SG2 are about the worst phones I've ever had for making phone call with however
One design fault is that you have to take them out of your pocket before going in swimming pool... SJ

Blackberry and Nokia have had their day.
Re: The iPhone thread
Mine hasn't, some five variants of Iphone have come out since I bought it and it's still going strong.....Nokia have had their day.

Re: The iPhone thread
It's their Symbian smartphone platform (with only 1.8% of the market share according to the survey) that's the problem. RIM (Blackberry) are also suffering as it's all about available apps these days.
Re: The iPhone thread
I don't miss them as I'm not actually sure what they do and my Nokia certainly seems to be able to make phone calls without them!.....as it's all about available apps these days.
From what I see with my younger colleagues, you can spend all morning on Facebook with your Iphone and then have to borrow my Nokia to make a phone call as the battery is flat.

Re: The iPhone thread
In some respects it should be when these things cost more than most spend on a laptop, it should do somethingchopsticks wrote:as it's all about available apps these days.
For those that have used smart phones for years you realise that there's probably no more than 10 apps that are used on a constant basis. The rest are just fads and clutter and for those who simple collect just to justify the expense.

They also do more, hence the price.
My phone is better than my Netbook.

It's only about a year old, Packard Bell Dot S2, it's a perfectly decent Netbook, it just so happens that the Galaxy S2 is better. On paper and in practice.Whaler wrote:BaaBaa. wrote:^My phone is better than my Netbook.maybe time for an upgrade then
I've got a more powerful laptop as well, I just don't feel the need to use it to read forums etc when I can lie on the sofa and use my phone.
Re: The iPhone thread
Thats why I opted for the new 11" MBA i7 best of both worlds, with W7 running of course
I may have a go at the S2, just going through a BB phase after the Iphone 3gs/I4. I thought after the Galaxy Tab the playbook would be a bit of fun but it has not matured fast enough and you need a BB to get the most out of it but it's ended up sitting unused for the most part.
