Any iPhone gurus out there can help me with this one ...

iPhone 3G went for a swim, all dried out now and it powers up, shows the Apple logo and then goes into recovery mode and wants to connect to iTunes.

Tried two PCs which failed, then plugged it into a Mac whereupon it started to download the latest iOS in preparation for restoration. It then started the restore process and threw up an error box which simply said "Error 28".

Searching Google gives me 4.5 million results for "iPhone error 28" and no real explanation of what it means, the Apple site is even less informative.

It's official guys!!!

Apple has sent out exclusive invitations to Computer Magazines, Editors and Technology bloggers with the Tag Line "Lets Talk iPhone" event @ their Headquarters in Cupertino, California on October 4th where the highly anticipated iPhone 5 with it's new iOS 5 and the much rumored facebook app for iPad will be unvealed!
On the invitation it says on the side "Breakfast Bar @ 9:00am and actual presentation @ 10:00am at the Auditorium.
Buksida aren't you a Technology Blogger for the Asia Times? Did you got an invite from Apple to this "Let's speak iPhone" event?" are you planning to go? If not can I fill in your place in Cupertino? And if you go can I tag along as your Partner?
It would be really interesting to witness live & in person the the unveiling of the newest model of the iPhone!. It's a once in a lifetime event that I sadly in my short rowing correspondent career haven't been able too attend.

It's rumoured to be larger screen than before, it needs to be imo, it might sound a bit(lot) stupid but there's a massive difference trying to type/read on the iPhone3 and these bigger screens like the S2. And if they didn't take this opportunity to get in the 90's with flash video, multiple email attachments, drag&drop folder system etc, then they're tards. Or is this all already picked up on the latest OS updates!? :?

This keyboard looks pretty cool if a little 'gimmicky', not sure how often you would use it.

If not interested in this vid at all, just ffw to 1:50 it's worth watching...

They've introduced something for all the 'swamp chuckers' out there... wireless iTunes downloads

Hallo there Randy
more like unveiling date for the iPhone V!

I take a wild guess that launch date will be a couole of weeks later. Just in Time for the Christmas gifts buying Season.

Unless Samsung takes a deep breath and chucks out and spits right into Apples Soup by getting the courts to prevent the iPhone 5 from selling in some lucrative markets!

I've heard it's so advanced you can hold it however you want and still get a full signal. iangle I think it's called.

Winds me how you all wait for weaker tech, at more expense and think you're at the cutting edge.

Welcome to a year ago with a very expensive logo.

Do Apple pay the media?
The camera will undoubtedly be the most powerful camera that many people have ever carried. An 8-megapixel stills camera and 1080p video
Oh rly? My 5 month old phone has it. I saw the new Apple guy saying that HTC and Samsung were definitely "catching up" hardware wise. No, they've over taken.

I recently bought a Huawai Ideos X3 Android phone with 2.3 for my son. While it´s a nice phone, especially for the low price of EUR 99 unlocked, the software is very unpolished and sometimes highly confusing.

Apple´s products simply work and anyone understand how to use them even without reading a manual. Apple introduces hardware that is best capable of taking advantage of today´s services, which currently is no more than HSDP. LTE ? where? How many people could/are getting a decent LTE signal and it´s promised speed?

I´m currently in Germany where all providers promise high HSDP speeds as fast as 14.400 . But still fail to keep up with their promise. Vodafone should be the best Internet provider yet I have to experience anything faster than about 3´000 with any device (iphone, ipad, android) and even that only sometimes in some locations ...

Long store short. The iPhone 4S is the best you can buy today to make the most of today´s service and that of the next 2 to 3 years ...

Is there some setting that can be tweaked on an iPhone4 to improve WiFi speed?

In my home, I use WiFi for my desktop computer, notebook computer and my iPhone4. Invariably, the iPhone4 speedtest.net results are considerably slower than either of my computers.

e.g. Just now, with my notebook and iPhone4 side by side, using speedtest.net test to Bangok server (from Hua Hin):

Notebook:
ping 45ms, download speed 8.83Mbps, upload speed 1.00Mbps

iPhone4:
ping 117ms, download 4.87Mbps, upload 1.17Mbps

I can alternate between the two devices and get very close to the same numbers. Why is the iPhone4 not able to have a WiFi connection as fast as my computers?

If I put test with my notebook and desktop computers side by side, I get almost identical results.

FYI & FWIW, this is using my 3BB 9Mbps/1Mbps, B900/month plan

It quite simply isn't and comparing it to a budget Android with old software is ridiculous, as I is making out lacking something is a good thing.

If your talking about making a call, sms and simple phone fuctions this is probably true of any phone and many other makes do this remarkably better and simpler which is why smart phone market is still relatively small to all other mobiles sold

As the Iphone and other high end ones are much more than just a phone firstly and the Iphone amonst others is almost useless without a mac or pc to realise it's potential and as for the forced itunes interface for the relative inexperiance pc/mac user it's not simple or intuative to use.

Agreed tablets and Ipads are generally easier in some respects but even MAC's are now getting stiffeled by thier legacy interface just to keep the old fan base happy and are certainly no easier to use than any PC or laptop
