So, my plan (cunning or otherwise..?) is to scoot on over to either Cha-am or Pranburi on Monday to renew my licences.
It was good to here that in Jan. Pranburi were still using the old-skool colour dots & brake/reaction set up...Has anyone
been to the Cha-Am/Na-Yang centre lately (it's generally quieter there) ..?
I've heard about the online stuff we are expected to do..WTF is this pink thing Buksi mentioned..???
Is there not some 50-question format that's been used now..??
My licences expired late April 2021, so hoping to just scrape under the year's renewal wire..(Hoping)
Have got my Resindency letter & medical cert, but still lots of unanswered stuff rattlin' around in my head..
...Any tips/pointers gratefully noted ...many TiA.. U.S.

Pink thing is the Thai ID card which serves as proof of address, if you don't have one you need the letter from immigration.

I had to watch a video online and make an appointment to renew, but things may be different up there.

My daughter renewed hers at Pranburi last month (due in January). First thing was it is by appointment only now. She was turned away in January, and given the first available appointment, which was March.

Before going in March, she had to do online learning and take a test in Thai. The pass certificate had to be printed and taken to her March appointment. Anybody without the certificate was turned away.

Anybody turning up late for their appointment was turned away.

Good luck on Monday :thumb:

Just checked the booking web site (https://gecc.dlt.go.th).
For extending 5yr licence Cha-am has availability from 29 April, Pranburi from 19 May.

No need to make an appointment at Cha Am, but best to go in the afternoon with copy of the online test (passed after watching video for an hour), medical certificate (obtained from red cross 50 baht, or doctor 80 baht), passeport, yellow book, driving license. The lady at reception will make all the copies necessary.
Need to do colour test and break test when there.
That is all which was required from my husband who recently renewed his licenses (car and bike).

Thank you for that joelle...I'll gamble on the 'no appointment needed' & take a ride over there and try to get there about lunchtime..hopefully in time for the afternoon session..

Joelle clearly stated that her husband had done the online test, so I don’t think there’s any chance of getting a new license without one!!

And I clearly stated it was by appointment only (or was there a jobsworth on duty that day). I assume Joelle's husband turned up on a day when there'd been a cancellation. The appointments thing was supposed to be national policy.

TIT, everybody's experience will be different :D

My husband went without appointment and with all the papers needed bar the online certificate and was told to come back when he had done the online test.
So a couple of days later he went back with the online test certificate, again without appointment, and got his licenses.
Maybe luck of the draw

Yep - the land of inconsistency, the Mrs and I were not even allowed to enter the building without an appointment. There was a trumped-up jobsworth at the front door with his clipboard making sure and taking what seemed to be extreme pleasure in turning people away. The militarization of the Thai civil service can clearly be seen everywhere now.
