The last 2 evenings we have started getting dark clouds coming from the direction of Burma. No rain yet, but this is the usual pattern for this time of year, clouds rolling in from 4 ish. I don't think it will be long we start to get regular evening showers.

Heavy storm, hail alert issued

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general ... ert-issued

"The Meteorological Department has warned of summer storms to come in greater Bangkok and many provinces in the Northeast, the East and the lower Central Plains.

While storms were receding in upper Thailand, they were expected to hit other areas -- Bangkok and surrounding provinces as well as Buri Ram, Chachoengsao, Chaiyaphum, Chanthaburi, Chon Buri, Kalasin, Kanchanaburi, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Nakhon Ratchasima, Prachin Buri, Rayong, Roi Et, Sa Kaeo, Si Sa Ket, Suphan Buri, Surin, Trat and Ubon Ratchathani, the department said Thursday.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said seasonal storms caused damage on Wednesday and Thursday to more than 200 houses in eight northeastern provinces -- Buri Ram, Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani.

It warned more storms were expected, including hailstorms, in the Northeast, the East and the Central Plains.

A storm struck Buri Ram's Muang district on Wednesday, damaging houses, shops, hotels, public property and caused power cuts in some areas. Heavy rain accompanied by swirling winds, thunder and lightning pounded Muang district where an employee of Buri Ram Hospital was hit by lightning while riding his motorcycle. He was admitted to intensive care."

Sun to shine directly overhead Bangkok Tuesday

"The sun will shine directly overhead Bangkok on April 26, but that doesn’t mean Tuesday will be the hottest day of the year, the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Narit) said.

At 12.16pm, your shadow will lie directly at your feet when walking the capital's streets, Narit deputy director Saran Poshyachinda said on Friday.".......

IIRC, it takes a week or two of the late afternoon dark/low clouds before it develops in to rain. Hoping it isn't much longer than that this year.

On the bus from Bangkok to Korat yesterday. Power lines taken down by a tree in Sikhiu. Saw a number of roofs blown off and several highway billboards blown down.

Just had a big storm and heavy rain pass through where I am in Bangkok. Still very black with thunder out towards the airport. There is actually cool air blowing through the open window, and a wet patch on the floor of the only window I forgot to close. 8)
