Well that was a bit of a farce to say the least......

Shouldn't have considered the race in the first instance - didn't happen, thankfully due to the weather.

They decided to complete sufficient laps behind a Safety Car purely to get classification for the race. So basically, after a number of laps behind a Safety Car, zero racing - the results stand as per the starting grid (aside from Perez out and all others moving up one place).

Even a Podium celebration....

I am however very happy that George Russell will be rewarded with second place - an amazing drive from him in qualifying! :thumb: Should the race have been cancelled, he wouldn't have received the recognition he deserved IMO.

Half points awarded for Top Ten finishers as not full race completed.

Superbru might just have some fun - how is the "Fastest Lap" awarded? The cars were following a Safety Car!!

As I write this, Mazepin of Haas has officially recorded the fastest lap of the "race" - by 0.001 seconds.....

And I thought the Liverpool vs Chelsea game (well 2nd half) was pi$$ poor boring this weekend......

Still, Lewis is still in front..... :thumb:

Now they move up the road, perhaps drive, to Holland next weekend. Good luck to all! :thumb:

The first race I've remembered to watch for quite a while - several hours later, a complete farce.

I felt sorry for the spectators in that pouring rain on grassy banks. They'd have paid big money to watch a procession of cars for about 10 minutes. They must have been absolutely frozen/devastated.

Very good article from the BBC site. Hamilton's comments excellent. My only extra comment is "do the organisers know the meaning of the word race"
Woke up this morning breathing that's a good start to the day.

Kimi Raikkonen: Former world champion to retire from Formula 1

The 41-year-old Finn, who won the 2007 title with Ferrari, said on Instagram: "It was not an easy decision but after this season it is time for new things."

He wrote he made the call last winter, adding: "F1 might come to an end for me but there is a lot more in life that I want to experience and enjoy."

Raikkonen has won 21 Grands Prix and has made a record 341 starts.

Since starting his F1 career in 2001, he has raced for Sauber, McLaren, Ferrari, Lotus and current team Alfa Romeo and has finished on the podium more than 100 times.

So a seat for Mick Schumacher or Bottas?

Strongly suspect it will be Bottas with George Russel replacing him at Mercedes....
