Hurricanes vs Highlanders a great game. 'Edge of the seat' stuff the entire 80 minutes. Try to see it on replay.

A sad day for Welsh and Aberavon rugby. R.I.P. Billy.

Billy Mainwaring has passed away at the age of 78 after a long illness. Never got to see him play competitive rugby, but he was always one to share his knowledge and experience of the game with us "youngsters" many moons ago at "age grade rugby" - for me personally at U16 and U19 levels when he would "join in with the coaching" :D , great times! We were also lucky enough to meet briefly with him on a number of occasions in the Aberavon club house years ago. Very down to earth, time for anybody and everybody - several sportsmen in this day and age could learn a great deal!!

One story that will always make me laugh: -

"Gareth Edwards used to tell a story about playing a club match for Cardiff at Aberavon and being manhandled by the Wizards’ formidable second-row Billy Mainwaring.
During a particularly torrid passage of play, Mainwaring’s mother Evelyn, an ever-present at the club’s games for so many decades, bellowed at her son as he picked up the great scrum-half by his jersey: “Put him down, Billy — he’s playing for Wales on Saturday.”

The towering lock duly obliged, dropping Edwards into the Talbot Athletic Ground mud. He duly made the game the following weekend."

Does Australia and New Zealand have daylight savings time? :?

All four games down there this weekend seem to have an hour later start. What is listed above as 13:35 and 15:45 is now 14:35 and 16:45 Thai time.

Yes, and it went back to normal on the 1st April. But not ALL parts of Australia have it, and the thing about NZ is it is actually at odds with the International Date Line. NZ is normally 12 hours ahead of GMT, so when they have daylight saving they are 13 hours ahead of GMT, while still being 12 hours East of GMT. :?

Damien McKensie is out 8-9 months with a ruptured ACL in his right knee, suffered against the Blues last Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed it is not a career ending injury for such a young and talented guy.

That means he is also off the All Blacks World Cup team and they now have to scramble for another fullback, although not sure he would have been in the fullback position on the All Blacks, he definitely would have been a starter.

The All Blacks may not perform as well as in the past in this World Cup. There seems to be something not right with them at the moment. A lot of older players, and younger players with not much international experience. Will be an interesting tournament.

Forgot to mention above that this is the last World Cup for All Blacks coach Steve Hansen, possibly to be replaced by Warren Gatland, no one is sure yet.

We saw clearly yesterday what this "world cup protocol" is having on New Zealand Super Rugby. Inexperienced players for the Chiefs, and many on the Hurricanes as well. The Hurricanes pulled out a win, but just barely. Let's see what happens today....

That is bonkers. How do I move up a position, whilst at the same time, receiving the wooden spoon. Is Superbru Thai? If not, they must import Thai logic :?
