Dates when no alcohol sold in Hua Hin
Liquor Ban this weekend?
Next local holiday falls on this Sat 18th May and is also carried forward to Monday 20th May. Does the liquor ban in Hua Hin main Restaurants apply only on the 18th or is it for both days?

Midnight tonight for 48 hours (16th and 17th July) the sale of alcohol is banned for Asahna Bucha and Khao Phansa (the start of Buddhist Lent).

Re: Thailand Calendar
Would August 12 also be a dry day?
Re: Dates when no alcohol sold in Hua Hin
What I've read on various sites is that the Queen Mother's birthday on August 12 is not a dry day.

The sale and distribution of alcoholic drinks will be banned from midnight on Friday until midnight on Saturday.
Deputy police spokesman Pol Col Kritsana Pattanacharoen on Friday told media that the ban was being put in place to mark the last day of Buddhist Lent and memorial day of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
He said police will be deployed to check entertainment venues, department stores, train stations and petrol stations.
Sellers and consumers are to be penalised for not observing the ban, he said.
Penalties for those who violate Section 59 of Alcohol Beverage Control Act — from which the ban is being stipulated — is up to six-month imprisonment and/or a fine of up to 10,000 baht.

Religion is great, is it not?
I wonder it "they" considered that, just maybe, people bought their alcohol before the ban and will drink it at home?

It has much more to do with lust for control than religion.

Thailand calls itself a 'freedom of religion' country, unlike Malaysia. So why does the government use Buddhism in law?
It certainly doesn't have any laws regarding other religions!
However, it's what it is and we should be used to it.

One day without alcohol, I suppose we will survive, if not all of us have a problem, with or without religion.
