You really need to come to the realisation that this is the 21st century and not the 19th century Wild West in America or the feudal age in Japan or 16th century Europe.

That's rich coming from you pal, when thousands have lost their livelihoods and you lost a license plate...you have had ample warnings that this weekend would be a particularly high tide combined with the run off from the North. Think of others less fortunate than yourself!!!!!!!!!

It's flooding where i live in Bangkok.
I tried going out today and the main road is completely flooded with 3-4 feet of water currently, broke my front license plate holder, so there goes another 1,000 baht down the Thai toilet to replace it. Will probably go to the dealership and get a 'NO HAVE'(mai mee) so will probably have to spend an entire day driving around just to get a front license plate holder replaced, TiT. :banghead: :?
Never a dull moment in Thailand!

I think this country is never going to improve, no matter how much money is invested/spent here, very sad.
Boo hoo. £20.

My friends wife hasn't been able to contact her father for 3 days.

Sunday always being a slow news day, nothing much new to report or reference this morning. Highlights are that flood waters are receding slowly in several areas of the country and the city, and 3,000,000 eggs imported from Malaysia go on sale today. There is indeed a shortage, we haven't been able to find any for a week now. Pete

The egg thing surprises me as there are small chicken farms all over Thailand. I bought commercial eggs (in the clear plastic cartons) late last week at the 7/11 and after that saw stacks of them (in those big square open cardboard thingys that you see in the back of trucks) at my local Thai mom and pop shop... in fact, I just had a Thai omelet for breakfast! There doesn't seem to be a shortage around my neighborhood, though admittedly, I haven't been out since Friday so maybe that changed over the weekend.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Here in Bangkok, there has been quite a shortage of eggs, probably for over a week now.

HHF, you are right, there are many chicken/egg farms all over the country. Many are flooded adn the chickens are drowned. Not sure if you've seen the warnings, but more than 1 week ago, in the local press here (and on Radio), they were warning that a very large number of drowned chickens had entered into the food chain via the fresh markets.

No egg shortage, say producers

http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews ... amid-flood

Published: 31/10/2011 at 02:01 PM
Online news:

Thailand is not facing an egg shortage as flood has damaged only about five per cent of layer farms, the layer chicken farm association said on Monday.

Association chairman Manot Chutabtim said the current situation only “looks like a shortage” because people panicked by the flood alerts have been stockpiling eggs.

Domestic layer farms, with a capacity to produce between 28 and 29 million eggs daily, were encountering only limited problems.

Hens had died on only a few farms, but some producers had rushed to “decommission” some of their hens to limit damages.

Eggs are presently priced about three baht each.

A tray of 30 eggs cost me 95 baht on Thursday last week - today the same supplier wanted 180 baht.

Other price increases include:-
10 kg case of breadcrumbs - up 160 baht.
5 kg case of butter - up 150 baht.
20 kg sack of flour - up 200 baht.

Bad enough in itself, but when this is all over will these prices return to their previous level or, say, their previous level + 10%?
This is the way
