Ok, my wife has now made an appointment for Pranburi on the 20th through the app, I suggested to her to call them to clarify what docs she needs to take and was told nothing extra only medical cert. So where is best to get that, anyone recommend please? GN.

Any clinic will issue a med cert.

Had to grapple with the app thing myself yesterday as mine is out in 2 months - boy do they like to make things complicated.

Like most Thai apps it only partially works and was a struggle to get through to the appointment stage (nearly everything full for the next 2 months where we are). Thai and English were offered but it is only partially in English so you still need to be able to read Thai. The provision for entering a passport number didn't work, luckily I have the pink ID card which did work. The mrs also struggled with it so those getting on a bit, or with no smartphone skills are likely not to bother. Thailand 4.0 = more people without licenses! :banghead:

Requiring a medical certificate for renewal was only made mandatory last year. However, most clinics are able to supply one for a small fee. In general there is no medical examination involved apart from the doc asking "You feel ok?" If he gets a "yes" answer then the certificate is forthcoming!!!

Just got back from the Pranburi DLT for renewal of both licenses. In and out in 50 minutes with no appointment. I had watched the eLearning video at home yesterday and printed out the certificate. I got my medical certificates at the clinic across from Big C on the Pala-U road. All I had to do at DLT is do the color blind test and the braking reflex test. Sat for my picture, paid my money, and I was out the door with my new licenses. My birthday falls in October, so the licenses are actually good for almost six years.

Hi Jack,

Good to hear about your smooth license renewal at Pranburi DLT without an appointment.

My wife is also due to renew her license, so in the hope that we can also have a hassle free renewal, may I ask what time did you arrive at Pranburi DLT?

If you (or anyone else) can share the link for the eLearning video that would also be a great help.

I did mine last month, I never watched the video or had an appt. Went at 11am for my renewal and there was nobody there.. forgot to make 2 copies of everything so had to pop next door to the photocopy place. All told 35 minutes to out the door. They never asked about the video and I had called before and was told no appt necessary.

Hi FarangJon,

Thanks for the reply.

May I ask, was your renewal for a car, a bike, or both?

Was it also at Pranburi?

I arrived at 1pm, right after the lunch break. I had only one copy of everything for each license and it wasn’t an issue. I had only one printout of my eLearning certificate, which I put in my papers for the car license renewal. Truth be told, the lady who took my packets didn’t seem too interested in it, so maybe it isn’t necessary? Not sure about that. It sounds like things run more smoothly in the morning, with fewer people. That may be the time to go. There were tons of people in the afternoon. Again, I was still in and out in under an hour.

Yes it was both at Pranburi. I think everyone shows up when they open at 8, by 11 they’ve cleared the rush.

My daughter phoned me earlier this morning, panicking that her licence had expired, and asked me what to do. The first thing I said was, "Don't worry, you have 12 months to renew. I then looked up this thread to see the latest information.

We made sure we got to the Pranburi office around the same time. My daughter actually signed in to the building at 12:50.

At 13:01 my daughter exited the building with an appointment for 8th March in her hand (that was the earliest date, and the next date was 31st March). She, and several others were told it is appointment only now as they had to restrict numbers inside the building. She was also told she would need a new doctor's certificate as they are only valid for one month, and she would need to take the certificate printed from her computer confirming she had watched the safety video.

Hi Big Boy, We were there yesterday for my wife to renew to a 5 year license. It is appointment only now in 2 hour blocks, there is no lunchbreak apparently, the appointments are made via the DLT app, obviously your daughter is already sorted. The only thing required to take is the health check cert if you are within the time limit as my wife was within the 12 months grace period. Then just the colour perception test and reaction test. she was not asked for the elearning thing, she was in there about an hour from 13.00. GN.

Yes, as with most things in Thailand, it depends upon which clerk you see on the day.

If that is the case, my timing was impeccable. Or maybe they let farangs just do walk-ins? Sorry that my info wasn’t up to date for you.
