Thai Floods 101 for the novice (with English sub-titles). Very good and understandable for the confused resident or visitor. Pete

Yes, please be aware that the majority of the inhabitants of Bangkok are those normal people that live in the outer suburbs that are flooded and not those rich HiSo's in the centre that are not.
Large numbers of people are living in very trying conditions with limited amenities and no income as their workplaces are flooded as well as their homes.

Unf'nbelievable!
It's flooding where i live in Bangkok.
I tried going out today and the main road is completely flooded with 3-4 feet of water currently, broke my front license plate holder, so there goes another 1,000 baht down the Thai toilet to replace it. Will probably go to the dealership and get a 'NO HAVE'(mai mee) so will probably have to spend an entire day driving around just to get a front license plate holder replaced, TiT. :banghead: :?
Never a dull moment in Thailand!

I think this country is never going to improve, no matter how much money is invested/spent here, very sad.

For the members saying "You should have been prepared" or "No one has to protect you from yourselfs".
You really need to come to the realisation that this is the 21st century and not the 19th century Wild West in America or the feudal age in Japan or 16th century Europe.

Well, nobody said it, but since you mention it... did you think it wouldn't affect you? :)

I can only speak with some degree of knowledge about the UK, but certainly over the past 10 years, the incidence and severity of flooding seems to be on the increase and I am sure that this is coomon in many western countries, so to single Thailand out when there are many "more wealthy" countries just as bad, seems a tad unfair, especially when you are dealing with the forces of nature against which it is very difficult to prepare completely.

At least i'm not getting ripped-off/price gouged by staying in some hotel in an area that isn't flooding. :)
