Good point. Now they're joining Covax being the only country in ASEAN not part of it. Their excuse initially for not joining:
The Thai government on Sunday defended its decision not to join the WHO-sponsored coronavirus vaccine programme, saying that to do so would risk the country paying more for the shots and facing uncertainty about delivery times.
They got that right didn't they?

Is there a country on God's good earth which makes it more complicated to receive a dose of an un-named (Sino-whatever) vaccine?

Couldnโ€™t agree more - my only hope is picking up on here that somebody else in my number range (low 10,000โ€™s) mentions they have a new date and I go along as well.

Astrazeneca letter:

https://www.nationthailand.com/perspective/40003689
Our vaccine is a โ€˜biologicโ€™ product that starts with growing โ€˜livingโ€™ ingredients. Its manufacturing is complicated. The number of doses in each โ€˜harvestedโ€™ batch is never completely certain, especially in the early stages of a new supply chain. Even with that context, our projections show that in months with uninterrupted manufacturing we can supply five to six million doses in Thailand.

By the end of July, we will have delivered 11.3 million doses, as part of our overall commitment to deliver 61 million to Thailand. As of now, we have delivered nine million doses, with 2.3 million to be supplied to the Ministry of Public Health next week.

I would imagine that the dark red areas will get the bulk.

It is like an auction or gamble now as to whether or when we will get the vaccine. The governments chaotic handling is worse than childlike. Continually moving vaccines from city to city as cases spike or festivals/reopening's etc pop up is not the right way.

I could just imagine them going to war with Cambodia and the army turns up on the Myanmar border with the weapons all delivered to the Laos border.

Looks like there maybe some movement regarding BCCT avenue, which seems to indicate that AZ will be the vaccine given, although it would require travel to Bangkok. Just received the following email from them ;

โ€œ We have now received the approval for the vaccination from the Department of Disease Control, however the areas that have been approved currently does not include Hua Hin hence there is still a need to travel to Bangkok

Those who have already been vaccinated or received appointment elsewhere please inform me immediately

Those that have not been vaccinated, please let us know if you are willing to travel to Bangkok for your vaccination? The vaccine will be Astra Zeneca

We will work out the date of appointment and contact you accordinglyโ€

Sounds quite promising.

I've had the same.

I suppose it's a toss up between going to BKK (twice I would think for two shots) and running the gauntlet here in HH not knowing when I'll get my first jab which'll be Sinovac anyway.

And how does one get to BKK these days, short of driving. And do you have to quarantine when returning?

I've got some thinking to do.

Foolishly, I withdrew from the BCCT offer a couple of weeks ago, when it seemed I was at the top of the Hua Hin Hospital list - still waiting for more vaccine. Shit happens

I've been talking to a couple of other friends, and said they should be able to get a taxi there, which will wait and bring them home again for <3,000เธฟ. 2 or 3 in a taxi shouldn't break the bank, and it's done. The big bonus is you avoid Sinovac.

Quarantine should be a must, but nobody seems to be taking any notice. It's not as if the police are going to come out of their cosy a/c buildings to challenge you.
