I'd thought that I could get my fave
When I first came to the Land of Smiles
But alas I still have to crave and crave
Can't find them across the miles

I finally settled in fair Hua Hin
Then started my search anew
I looked at every biscuit tin
But ne'er they come in view

Hours of fishing and dream on dream
Whilst attending to the baited hook
But never tasting that chocky cream
And savouring that handsome look

What must this be, that haunts me so?
A favourite snack with a cuppa
A M&S Bourbon - down in one go
Even a whole pack for supper.

M&S Bourbon biscuits are usually available in either of the M&S stores in BKK - at a price I might add

Living here is such a dream,
the nightlife being one big scream.

Sunny skies, and cheery Thai's,
there's even steak and kidney pies.

Sandy beaches, yellow peaches
Tesco's shelves stock cheesy quiches.

Whats sad and sure to make me wail,
no outlets selling Abbots ale.

Randy, now I am going to make you feel even worse. Was at the bottle shop here in Aus about 3 weeks ago and spied a 4 pack of large Bottles of Abbot Ale.
Have never seen over here before so just had to have them. Cost me $30.00 (1000baht) for the pack, but I can tell you it was worth every cent I spent.
Tasted absolutley 1st class and will have to get some more next time I see them.

Terry in the driving in LOS thread you say you live in Bangkok during the week and commute to HH at the weekend! So you have more access to M&S in Bangkok than the rest of us - we should be asking you for supplies!!!!! Especially if M&S gingerbread men are back in stock :P 8)

True

But I'm nowhere near M&S and frankly am a slave to the work - hence my weekly sanity trips home to HH - only 15 minutes to go!!!!!!!!

Not to steal any of Iagra's thunder, but if any expats are going through withdrawals for 'Brit food' you might like to try the following:

www.shoppingfrombritain.com

or

www.britishcornershop.co.uk

They serve me well enough for those little essentials that just can't be bought in Brunei

Tried that shopping from britain. ordered one mars bar 48 pence shipping costs £34.40.
If you need to buy from there you will need to buy wholesale.
I know you can get mars bars here I was experimenting with cost to expensive for me.
Woke up this morning breathing that's a good start to the day.

To be perfectly honest I don't really miss anything at all...
I find I loose weight easier in the 'Land Of Smells' as the food is so much better for you. In England at my local sainsburys an organic potato is approaching £28.50 and milk is now £45 per litre...

What has happened to the Mainland Cheddar Cheese - Tasty and Vintage types?
I have not seen it around the supermarkets' since late last year.
I recall early last year in Pattaya that it was off the shelves for 2 months but then was readily available.
It has a great taste and on a par with the very good in UK.
Anybody know the answer?

If you walk from the beach down the street where the post office is, just after the start is a big modern Kodak photo shop that also has a mini mart in it. They used to sell Mainland cheese, plus Bega (aussie cheese) plus a few more. Other than that try Tesco

Well, it's getting near time for me to make preparations for my trip
(as previously stated, I arrive Hua Hin July 13, but am not travelling there direct.)
I've found it interesting that some posters' cravings can actually be satisfied in HH, though no doubt at a price.
Competition not quite closed yet, but will be doing my last-minute shopping on Fri 27th.
So far, we have a clear winner: Terry, and his ode to M&S Bourbons. (I am not really a biscuit eater myself, but can easily imagine that it's the kind of thing an expat would miss - so, Terry, if you are serious, I'll put a pack or two top of my list. A bit of comfort food after the trauma of your recent break-in might not go amiss.)
Vital Spark (nice avatar, BTW) was the first to mention Cheddar cheese, but her post was somewhat lacking in the passion and persuasiveness I was looking for. Sandman67, OTOH, displayed both in abundance, as well as just the right amount of desperation. I realise cheddar of some sort mey be locally available, but would be happy to bring a pack of extra mature if you wish.
Sandman also mentioned PG Tips. This brand is absent from the shelves of my local Somerfield/Asda, but there are many others. (I am not a tea drinker myself either, but have been told that taste can depend on the water used, but what do I know...)
Randy Cornhole - sorry, I can sympathise with your choice, but am not too sure whether the size and weight of bottled beer would be a wise addition to my luggage.
Anyway, Bourbons/Terry, Cheddar/Sandman, (Tea?/Sandman) - so far an easily done deal, no problem.
Still maybe a little room left. Lime pickle anyone?
