Problem for us Brits is that we are spoiled by the Indian restaurants back home! Maharaja is comfortably the best for me.
A curry night in the bar could be a great idea!

I agree with bushida the Big indian is way over priced , the other is ok sometimes.

On the over here over there mentality, it is very , very , annoying when friends say this is cheap. When we who are here all the time yes this is now home , know the prices ,and , we are being overpriced.

On the good side cooking for your self is cheap. Some friends coming over tomorrow for the game. Menu , Lamb Rogan Josh, Pork Bankao, Goa Prawns. There may even be some beer consumed. Opps forgot Bomby potatos, and of course the rice.

Nothing i would love better . However i am not the confident type and would fear you would be disappointed.

I am more at home with 6/8 guys and there beloveds more causes stress

If this is a success i may do an italian. My Cioppino soup is to die for ,or so i have been told. However they were from USA. It is a soup so suited to Thailand , fish, shell fish and a tomato base, truly wonderful with fresh bread.

Italian food is so good and pure i love cooking it but i also like the spice of Indian and i love them both

Enjoy the game

The chicken tikka masala I cooked the other day impressed my Nepalese neighbours.
I've seen a rogan josh cooked in Shrinegar. I still cook the spices here, but the lamb is expensive. Rogan Josh is a bit good.
BTW, as far as I'm aware the massaman curry derives from Persia. Nothing to do with southern India or Thailand at all.

Okay, I was out of line comparing UK prices but as I said, it's much cheaper than there. I know what rents those restaurants pay and the tax, utility bills etc. The salaries are probably one of the smaller amounts. Quite a lot of the food has to be imported.

Now, one comparison I can make is in the way of Thai food. In Thailand of course you can get a good meal for a few baht. Whereas in the UK going to a Thai restaurant requires you to morgage something. Expensive even for the average Brit on UK salary. Why, because a lot of the stuff has to be imported.

If you want to eat to suit a Thai pocket then eat Thai food. If you prefer 'foreign' food, then you have to be prepared to pay for it.

That is one of many things that pees me off about the U.K.
The cost of eating out is ridiculous.

Most countrys can eat out almost nightly and its a huge part of their social life, Spain, Italy, France, Thailand, i would imagine most of Asia.

Another one of lifes great pleasures thats too bloody expensive in this country.

I agree with JW, we Brits have been spoilt by some of the best Indian restaurants in the world and it’s very hard to find anything to compare. The Taj-Mahal in Hua Hin is OK but if I was back in Nottingham I could find dozens of restaurants that were better. In continental Europe the situation is even worse; I’ve been served curries that you could make by putting HP sauce into tinned stew.
I’ve found that one thing that sometimes helps is to let the staff know that you eat in Indian restaurants in the UK, it sometimes makes them try harder to achieve something authentic.

Nottingham and Glasgow have about the best Indian food in the UK.
I've always wondered why. Until I realised the huge Indian populations there - over three or four generations.

I have just seen an advertisement for an "Indian Food Promotion"at the Evason Hua Hin.They have an Indian chef called Ravi Poojary who will be cooking authentic Indian dishes including Tandoori chicken and Naan bread. This runs from the 25th May until 2nd June from 6.30pm at "The Other "restaurant.
Sounds good,I will give it a whirl as it is an Indian chef, should know his stuff.

Don't forget the ring of fire! Go north outside the ring of oppulance, and be ye scared as a rabbit in the headlights of a stolen escort. Head to the star of bengal in wembly, utter the secret words - I am gainfully employed. and ye shall receive a meal not seen outside of the M25.
