.oldmate
why do the "young" of the world think they know everything.?
Randy Cornhole your answer was spot on.

I wish you would not abuse the english language with your terrible spelling I cringe evertime you talk about Australia as if we are "Gods Gift to Everything".
On May 9 you answered Kraka'a Dad when he asked what Straya meant and you said slang for Australia.
Can I as an oldie correct you.
Straya comes out when people in Australia don't open their mouth properly and the Aus sound does not come out- hence Straya
Oldmate
Here are a few general slang words you might like to remember for when you are an oldie
AUSSIE means AUSTRALIAN
ARGUE THE TOSS means DISPUTE A DECISION
PULL YOUR HEAD IN means MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS
THICK(as a brick) means STUPID OR INTOLERABLE
I do not think the forum should be changed .
Could we please have a poll?.
You may all look at where I come from Aystralia I pressed the y instead of the u and did'nt know how to correct it and also it should show Hua Hin as well

Unbelievable Randy, I honestly thought you were joking on the other post, now I realise that you really do have prejudiced views about younger people. Younger people are all 'oley, oley, oley', 'younger people don't want a quiet, peaceful life'. I've travelled around the world and had a lot of fun doing it, I still like fun, but if I want a bit more I go on a trip to Bangkok Koh Tao or Phi Phi, and by that I mean a good night out at a club, not shagging in Pattaya (never been there, nor want to), the rest of the time I'm quite happy living and working here and enjoying exactly the same things as people a generation or two older like myself enjoy. I know a handful of others like myself who have happily lived here in Hua Hin for longer than you, so please don't try and start a pathetic witchhunt agianst youngsters. Without trying to get too personal, could it be that you have a complex about a wasted youth?Randy Cornhole wrote:There a lot of places to go when your young. Hua Hin is a nice place to be if your slightly older and want peace and quite. Why do the young always want to be where the older people are? Im saddened with the influx of young 'oley oley oley' types. you have Phuket, Pattaya, Pii pii and all the rest why do you want to come to Hua Hin? Is no place safe for someone wanting peace and quite. Perhaps if we oldies go to Udon Thani the youngsters will follow and we can leave them there... he he he.
Its about time they stood on their own two feet and not followed the oldie crowd.
Please tell me that your comments were at least half tongue-in-cheek, and I'll be happy to say that I've overreacted.

If you can read a dictionary Rosie the term Slang means-
1-A kind of language occurring chiefly in casual and playful speech, made up typically of short-lived coinages and figures of speech that are deliberately used in place of standard terms for added raciness, humor, irreverence, or other effect.
2-Language peculiar to a group; argot or jargon: thieves' slang.
STRAYA PRONOUNCED AND SPELT THAT WAY AS A CASUAL AND PLAYFUL WAY OF SAYING AUSTRALIA. USUALLY SPOKEN THIS WAY BY THE WORKING CLASS OF AUSTRALIA AT THE LOCAL PUB. ALONG WITH OTHER ONE WORDED WORKING CLASS SLANG LIKE- "COBBA", "AVAGO",
"SH*THOT" JUST TO NAME A FEW.
I may not spell good English rosie but that might have something to do with finishing school when i was 16 and doing an apprenticeship.
Im a tradesman and i think that most of my customers are more concerned with the fact i do a good job of fixing there vehicle than how well i spell or string together a written sentence.
Do you own a car Rosie? What would you rather, me being able to spell proper and string out a sentance or rip you off and do a poor job of repairing your vehicle.
My apologies if you cant understand my rant i cant speal or speekks gut englich.
