Hi all, will be in hua hin in the next few weeks & despite all the brilliant thai places to eat I just know that within 10 days or so I'll be claiming the walls for a good old Indian ruby...something's never change...just wondered if anybody has been more recently, has it settled down ?what's the menu like? Are the prices still a bit on the high side?...to many things to ask really in one posting I know, but if you don't ask you'll never know....thanks again.

The prices are not too high, and the food is good. Yes you do pay a bit more, but like others have said, it's the same at all the places in that area because of high rents. I personally don't think tourists will find the prices too high, especially if they mostly eat in the town center.

The place is spotlessly clean, but it could do with a bit more character as far as interior decorating is concerned. :D

It's only been 16 days since the original posting :) I haven't been back since but I doubt the prices will be coming down considering it's location. If you're only going to be here 10 days, and in that time only having one Indian meal, then I'd recommend this above any of the others I've been to. If you're on a budget, you'll get a good feed at S&S for a far lower price.

Not that I'd wish S&S on anybody, but there's always the Green Songthaew or the Round City Songthaew.

Or even walk???

And yea the white Sontheaws go right down 94. Even so, if you're having more than a couple of curries and beers, you're still well in pocket after paying for a tuktuk.

Went for our first visit last night to Little India. Great meal and amazed that there was no one else in the restaurant. Still, will be back again - service was great, food all arrived at the right time and tasted really good. Fingers crossed it picks up the trade and keeps on going, be a shame to lose it...

Pagey wrote:I walked past recently and looked at the menu and noted it was 250 baht for most chicken curries, the same price as the other empty Indian I pass every week opposite All Nations GH. A lady came out and explained it was as Pleng says 'cos the rent is so high, 40,000 Baht per month.

To be honest I don't think a rent of 40,000 for Poolsuk seems over the top these days. Especially for a place at that end of the Soi.
As for the meal prices - reasonable if it hadn't been for the slight over ordering! But with any new restaurant you never know whether you are going to get decent sized portions, so that is understandable for a first visit. I usually pay about £10 - or around 450 baht - at a regular Indian restaurant here in the UK for a so called 3 coarse meal. One poppadom each with dips, one small starter, one average main and rice. No drinks included. So if this new place is providing quality they will hopefully catch the tourists, and they are certainly in the right location to do that.

The 250 Baht is just for the chicken curry main course. It does not include rice, naan bread, poppadums etc.
The one I had near All Nations was around 30 for rice and 65 for a garlic naan if I remember correctly putting it at over 7 quid.

OK for tourists but if I have to pay that much for a curry I want a sea view like S'mor, not a traffic snarled street. :thumb:

I agree. A beach setting is nice, but a setting on a busy street certainly has its charms too.
