Nip & Tuck
Re: Nip & Tuck
I was prompted to create the topic after seeing a male tourist have the bags under his eyes done at San Paulo. Seems little point for men staying in Thailand when looks are secondary to your potential as a provider.

The bags under the eyes operation is VERY commonly done probably more for men than women. It is quite an easy op--no cutting. They go in and suck the pad of fat that has been deposited. The result is not immediate , the skin has to tighten up and adjust.

Are we sure that the man in question 'on the hunt' for a Thai girl?MrPlum wrote:I was prompted to create the topic after seeing a male tourist have the bags under his eyes done at San Paulo. Seems little point for men staying in Thailand when looks are secondary to your potential as a provider.
Perhaps he wants to attract farrang girls? Perhaps he's gay? Maybe he's married (to farrang or Thai, doesn't really matter) and feels he's like to look his best for the love of his life?

I must admit I thought that this sort of thing was just for the likes of ageing TV and media personalities and it never occured to me that normal people bothered with it. The world must be getting more vain, or even veined!I was prompted to create the topic after seeing a male tourist have the bags under his eyes done at San Paulo.
Re: Nip & Tuck
If I would be interested in having anything done it would be this. I get quite often remarks from strangers "you look tired" and indeed I always do. I eat healthy, never smoked in my life, very modest alcohol consumption (I drink certainly not every day as I work 6 days a week) but I got the eyes from my mother including the bags.Dr Michael wrote:The bags under the eyes operation is VERY commonly done probably more for men than women. What put me off so far is not the macho idea that many consider it a gay thing to do, sod that.
It is the cutting and the price.
Now DrMichael you say there is no cutting involved. I always understood there is because after removal of excessive fat you will have skin left over. Are you saying the skin is going to shrink? Hard to believe to be honest. Years ago I seriously considered having it done but also the possibility of an infection afterwards and the rest of the long list of what can go wrong was not very encouraging. A good thing I remember is that because of the natural skin lines around the eyes the scars will always be invisible.
Second thing that put me off is the cost. I remember quotations varying from 20 to 50K PER eye. Maybe DrMichael can shed a light on that too.
The first site I google now shows USD 1,200 for lower blepharoplasty, more than 50,000 Baht for probably one eye although it doesn't say, but this quote from the site is frightening: "Some of the potential complications that may be discussed with you include scarring, infection, changes in sensation, skin discoloration, and blurry or double vision to name a few. You can help minimize certain risks by following the advice and instructions of your plastic surgeon, both before and after your eyelid operation".
Are these common complications or - as I think - extremely rare? I hope they only mention them on their website because their lawyer advised them to do so. (Although I cannot imagine a lawyer who agreed with the text 'to name a few').
Any advice from DrMichael or perhaps others who had it done or know people who had it done very much appreciated.
Would like to hear your opinion DrMichael.

Wow, please let me know where you can get an exchange rate of approx. 42 baht = 1US$, as that's where I want to change my moneyRoel wrote:The first site I google now shows USD 1,200 for lower blepharoplasty, more than 50,000 Baht for probably one eye .

Seriously though, Bumrungrad hospital in BKK have upper or lower blepharoplasty listed on their website (http://www.bumrungrad.com/en/plastic-su ... urgery-1-1) for approx. US$1,077 (34,000 baht), so not a million miles away from what your search revealed

Don't forget to add the cost of a trolley full of drugs.

Resist that--- something for pain and an antibiotic by mouth should be all you need.

I stand by my previous statement-- improvement is not immediate.
