Taking Thai girlfriend to europe on Shengen visa

Were you successful James ?? Thanks for all your replies and it looks like a Spanish schengen might be difficult to obtain. Has anyone tried getting a visa from another country, which is easier to obtain, and then getting a flight to the country that issued the visa but not actually spending any time there - I mean flying in and then straight out again on a cheapo flight to Sapin? Just wondering what checks would be in place...

I work in the Schengen zone and if you travel from one country to another within it you don't go through passport control, that's the whole idea of it. Also all the land border custom control posts were removed at the same time.
