Somebody found a Thai government customs duty tariff schedule and uploaded it to a competing site. Google "WCO - Thailand's Duty Rates Notif12(01)_eng.pdf" Search returned 1 result a few minutes ago. Go to that page and search on "attached file" to find the download link. Only registered forum users can download files. Registration is free.

They give you an address in the US and then once you have enough stuff or just want it quickly they will use discounted rates to DHL it to you. They will not adjust the airwaybills too much but they are experts in forwarding. I'm not related to them in any way, they just give me an excellent service for things that are either inaccessible in Dubai or much cheaper. Luckily there is an online Apple Store in Thailand, and according to some other forums the duty is included on the shipping, this remains to be seen.
Yes, with Apple the duty is included in the price, and shipping is free via DHL for purchases over about 2,500 Baht. Your total cost on a Baht exchange basis will be more than the USD prices listed by the USA store. Purchases are easy and items arrive quickly unless a waiting period is listed when you purchase an item. They only accept Visa and Mastercard, no AMEX.

Computers and all major equipment comes from Shenzen, China, except the IPhone which you have to purchase here through one of the three Thailand carriers, True, DTAC or AIS. No 'official' unlocked models available for sale here. Smaller accessories all come from Singapore. You may be disappointed with the selection of accessories in the Thailand store as there are few in each equipment category. Major equipment available is usually the same as the USA store. If any technical problems with something, you have to haul it yourself to their service centre in Bangkok, or I guess you can mail it to them. Pete

What is a typical tariff amount for such things as supplements? should I expect to double the price paid? Planning to retire there soon and need my vits.

Cant comment on Amazon but have just ordered a book online from Asia Books (based in BKK) and saved about 50% on the total cost as they ship free to Thailand.

I just purchased a book online from Amazon yesterday using my credit card from back home. Everything seemed fine with the online purchase. It quoted the book will arrive July 26 so I'll let you know then.

I had books from Amazon shipped several times, always arrived without problems. I paid 15 Euro shipping costs, independant on the number of books, so I order 20-30 books at one time.

I have ordered several things from Amazon on many occasions.
A few times they charged me for Thai tax even before shipping, but also refunded that amount when it has not been charged during shipping.

Overall my experience is good, thought much faster if you have things delivered in Bangkok, what is obviously not Amazon's fault. Strangely enough, sometimes it takes a while longer than you expect when it has to go a bit further, for instance to Hua Hin.

Manou, by "Thai tax" do you mean 7% VAT, or some Thai Customs duty, or both? I think Customs duties vary by product category?
