Hi Allen,

Have you driven to Kan from HH on the road 3089 from Rat.., to Ban Pong. I have, it is a single lane road, but you have 2 or 3 sites to visit on the way to Kan.

1. Wat Nong Hoy - วัดหนองหอย
Super pano views of Rat... Province BTW.

2. We also feed the Monkeys, the truning is on your left down the 3089.

3. And then the famous "Bat Cave" also on this little road.

As most seem to be bus trips to see the bridge, and Hell fire pass etc; maybe stay a couple of days, then gone.

Hi Allan,

Please read the part of your post that is in Bold.

Most of us that live in Kan leave the "Day Trippers alone" as we have our own lives to live, hence we are not seen, but heard/read on forums like this one.

Hi Allan,

Yes you are correct. Kan is much cheaper than any Sea-side place in Thailand. However, Kan is a country home and not a Beach place (but we do have one, fresh water, btw), hence tourist from all over the world who do not have any sun nor warm beaches during the cold winter months in the upper part of the world visit Thailand for and too their beaches.

Majority of ESL forum posts about quality of life there are positive, except for the heat. According to one climate site it's the second hottest place in Thailand for which there are accurate records: <snip> (due to under quote posts)
Hi Homer,

You are correct in your words (quality of life there are positive,) and then (for the heat).

Well living here in Kan for 11 years and much longer in Thailand and in the Middle East before that one just gets used to it, well I have.

Sorry, but witch river are you on about, as this place is not on any of my visits, more like Thong Pha Phum (It is about 159 kms away from Kanchanaburi on route 323 and a short distance to the Dam, NOT 30 km :neener: ) on the Khaew Noi BTW.
