yeah right. I sit and explain it to them over and over....no change.

Incidentally Im the adopted papa....I try hard to make up for the fact they had a crappy start in life, but the damage is done through learning mai pen rai from birth.

We all know that Mai Pen Rai rules. We all accept (or should) an element of sabai sabai in day to day life - as others have said we shouldn't be here if we can't hack it. Agreed. But there is also the question as to why these kind of building/finishing practices continue - especially when Thailand knows - (or does it?) that it needs to compete more and more in the tourism stakes.

That rough sand wash finish isn't acceptable on any pool anywhere, and particularly in pools likely to be used by children. That new flooring in HH Mall isn't acceptable either. It's new for gods sake - and it's dangerous. So when they are replacing something like that - upgrading - whatever - why the f..k not get it right for a change?

To me it's nothing to do with compensation culture. Little to do with Health and Safety regs even. Just common sense. But in the LOS it's more to do with whether something looks pretty.

So,so many times when the guy with the sandwash steps has a party someone gets hurt..cut or badly grazed due to the rough texture being within the pool.
Might be because of the size of the stones. The finer sandwash finish on the right in the pic below is nice and smoothe, whereas the atrocity on the left is as rough as Geordie bird. Plus the larger stones can get v. hot.

Who cares about a little blood ? The chlorine will clean anything. This is not a thai response but a normal response.

I agree bro...man they pulled bad cards ;-)

Its mad tho...Im sounding just like my old pa now...turn that TV down; Go to bed; sit away from that TV....the one that made me laugh tho was while I was at home my young niece and her mates came down to go out wearing tiny mini skirts and I actually said, without thinking, that old line

You arent going out dressed like that are you?

My brother and pa were rolling about laughing....my pa used to say that to me all the time in my goth biker days.

Dozer....the shiny floor tiles is a very Thai thing. Notice your driveway is probably floored with them too? Try driving your bike into teh drive during a downpour when its wet and skidding into the back wall as your drive is now like a sheet of glass.

Shiny floortiles a driveway do NOT make. Easy to clean, crap for breaking on in the wet.

Ive even gone arse over tit on my drive when Im barefoot...its a frickin ice rink in the wet.

But do Thai builders think that? Nahhhh....shiny tiles look nice see.

And yep Ive gone skidding in MV too with wet shoes and no grips. In there its probably that they are easy to clean.

Ah well....TIT ;-)

Sandstone driveways in all my houses and proper floor tiles inside.
