Moonsmile is a benchmark we judge others by in terms of quality and price, great place and will accomodate a bit of al a carte and swapping around of the menu :)

Moon Smile is very popular and has been for years, the secret is that most of the dishes have a nice hint of western sweetness with lots of coconut milk - very cleverly done to please the western taste buds.
Favs for me there are Grilled Cotton Fish made with a sort of red curry marinade, its a seriously tasty bite, the Mussels as mentioned earlier is also a top one. Cerainley one of the best places in Hua Hin. :thumb:

I enjoyed eating at Moonsmile many times as well. I also enjoyed some of the other adjacent restaurants.

The problem I think is that this is the one in that string of restaurants that was recommended by the Lonely Planet. With their million readership they can make or break a restaurant and I am sure this is part of the reason why this is packed with tourists all evenings all evening while adjacent restaurants receive relatively less customers.

I often feel LP is sometimes not being responsible enough with its popularity. I have seen this in Vietnam as well. A string of restaurants, all looked quite the same and had similar menues. One was seemingly randomly recommended by LP and this one was crammed while the adjacent ones were empty.

Just a thought, not wanting to belittle the quality of Moonsmile in any way though.

There are a couple of restaurants that actually outshine Moon smile along that strip

They're pretty much all good but far too many farangs for my liking :duck:
