Chris (Guess) final goodbyes

I'm coming to the thread a bit late, having just read the news via email from Verity in Bang Saphan. She had been helping Chris & Oi with their dogs (vaccines etc) while Chris was ill. Seemingly, a few days before his death, some sick **** beat Chris's dogs and puppies to death, and sadly, he saw the state of them. I just can't believe that anyone could do that to a sick man, especially one as lovely as Chris.

RIP, Chris. You truly were a gem of a man. You never judged on gossip or hearsay, but took people as you found them. You were a wonderful individual with a bottomless generosity & heart. Condolences to Oi and other family and friends. The world is truly a poorer place without Chris in it.

A good man with a great sense of humour and a welcoming nature. Always one to offer an honest opinion and some piece of amazing and entertaining trivia!

RIP Chris and thanks for the times we spent in your company. Sad condolences to Oi and the family.

Sorry to hear about Chris. -He was one of the few HHAD members that I actually ever met.

His health was generally poor as long as I had known him but I always stopped in his place for a drink.

Like others have said he was most knowledgeable particularly on many obscure topics. In fact that was the basis of how we came to meet.

Details of The Cremation Ceremony for Chris are as follows.

The Service will be held at Wat Khao Bot in Bang Saphan this Wednesday 11th November - 3.00pm for 4.00pm cremation.



Understand this is short notice and hope to see many of his friends from both Hua Hin and Bang Saphan there.

I can accommodate 3 passengers in my car + X number of people behind in my pick-up, outfitted with a fibreglass canopy.

Many of you are familiar with the previous situation and many made generous donations to cover escalating hospital bills which effectively gave Chris an extra year of life - this you can't put a price on.

Sadly the situation has not improved financially so donations to assist in covering the cost of the service would be very welcome, every little helps.

As you know, nothing is free in Thailand.
Hospital bills and funeral bills are high and his body will not be released from the hospital without a guarantee that the bills will be paid.

I understand that the total cost is around 72,000 THB including two hospital bills and the cost of the funeral. Already a number of Thai based forum members have contributed, and as stated earlier, if you wish to make a donation, please contact either myself or one of the mods.

The total costs are about 72,000 but we are hoping for a number of small donations to cover most of the costs. Anything is most welcome.

As I write JD is paying the bill from his own pocket so that the hospital will release Chris's remains. JD will then complete massive paperwork at the local govt office. Chris will then be transported to the temple in Bangsaphan for the service tomorrow.

We are having a get together to celebrate Chris's life on Saturday 14th November, we will start out at JW's, probably have a few in Sugar Cane then wherever the swing takes us.

Time - about 7.30 - 8.30 then onwards around town.

Thank you to Chris's friends who travelled down from HH to help send him on his final journey, especially to JD who's big heart made the whole event possible.

Please raise a toast from all of us in BS when you visit Sugar Cane tonight and drink mightily in celebration of his life!
