Apart from an initial batch that was imported, I believe it’s coming from a licensed processing plant here in Thailand. Siam Bioscience or something similar

The first batches were sent to Europe, GB and USA where there was good coverage in the Bangkok post. I would think that the subsequent batches for millions of doses a time continue to be checked (by who? - I hope GB

They are producing the vaccine under license and was at least inially overseen by the parent company. Considering the deal is that they are the main producer of the AZ vaccine for the region, hence the export quotas, I think its safe to assume that it is at the same standard as produced in Europe. Just as other meds produced here under license are widely used.

I agree but, despite the fact that it is approved by WHO, AZ vaccine produced out of Europe is not approved in European countries and they won't allow you in without quarantine

This is correct. In fact even some people who were vaccinated with AZ in the UK cannot travel to some EU countries because the particular batches their AstraZeneca vaccine came from, were manufactured in India.

As the article below states:
It is thought that up to five million Brits who received jabs from the Indian AstraZeneca batches could risk being barred from holidays in certain EU countries as a result.

But the EU drug regulator's approval does not cover AstraZeneca doses made by South Korea's SK Bioscience or Thailand's Siam Bioscience.
The EMA has only approved AZ vaccine manufacturing sites in the EU, the United Kingdom, United States and China.
China!! FFS.

I don't think anyone was expressing doubt about the standard of the AstraZeneca vaccine being produced here, just pointing out that it's not accepted in some EU countries using the digital certificate system.

Don't forget that at the beginning of the vaccination roll out in Europe, each separate AstraZeneca plant in Europe had to be certified and some of them had difficulty with getting EU approval, which AZ said was part of the reason for the shortfall in vaccine supplies that became such a bone of contention with the EU.

As stated in the article below:
As for any medicine in the EU, COVID-19 vaccines can only be manufactured in approved sites that are included in the marketing authorisation following regulatory assessment.

It varies from country to country - for example, vaccination with Covishield, the India-produced AZ vaccine is accepted for entry to some Schengen area countries and not by others. May need to check the latest position with the relevant embassy.
