Be time for Pete's 'Floods of 14/15' thread soon.

I hope not but just in case, how high would a water slide have to be from Sattahip to Hua Hin beach, arriving at a reasonable speed?

Erm, I don`t think so.
The airport is at: N 12 degrees, 34 min, 40 sec, or 12.5778
and : E 19 degrees, 57 min, 14 sec, or 99.9539
I don't claim to be good at Google Earthing, but if you put the coordinates Pete gave into Google Earth it comes up with somewhere in Manila Bay.
12.58 °N, 99.95 °E
So what am I doing wrong?
Try just putting them into plain Google, or open the link: :thumb:

Well I'm baffled. Google Earth has taken me all over Thailand. Why doesn't it work here? Don't answer me, we're going off topic already.

You are a visionary BB. :D I could start a flood thread now given what I've read today, but will give it a day or two to see what happens. What I do know is the water from the north has now reached Ayudhya in large proportions, and the whole of the Chao Praya is up and continuously rising.

As usual, given that Bangkok has felt no pain yet, the news is sparse concerning what's been happening up-country, which is significant. Stay tuned...... Pete

PS: Await the brown river water in the sea along the coast. It will probably be there this month.

Floods reach deeper into Central Plain

http://www.bangkokpost.com/most-recent/ ... tral-plain

"Flooding was spreading in Sukhothai and reaching into other provinces in the Central Plain, including Ayutthaya, on Friday....."

"Runoff had raised the level of the Chao Phraya River and its tributaries by 1-2 metres and that could cause sudden flooding in riverside and low-lying areas......

Well we certainly got a good downpour today, despite the "accuweather" site suggesting that we would get "a little rain in the afternoon".

Speak for yourself. We had a couple (maybe less) of spots at this end of town. It did look a bit dark up your way, and we could hear the thunder though.

I'm surprised at that - we travelled to Makro and just before the tunnel where the airport is, the road was flooded and the spray when I drove through completely engulfed the windscreen of my SUV. The sky all around was very grey and I assumed that the whole of HH would be getting heavy rain.

Speak for yourself - we did only get a little!! As has been said many times previously it is very hit and miss in this area

The sky just opened up like Niagra Falls... Big Boy, I bet your house is getting some substantial rain at the moment!

Wow, this is the strangest weather I've ever seen. It just rained harder than I think I've ever seen for 3 minutes and now it's just a sprinkle.

edit: hold on, that may have been the eye of a small storm, it's picking up again.
