Friends of ours gave me the following that they had picked up.

“ I saw a news snippet yesterday to say that when the people with vaccine appointments report to HH Hospital, they will be given a bar code, phone number, and approximate rescheduled appointment date. The person can then phone close to the date to have it confirmed.”

I shall go to the hospital next week with my Thai wife to see what they say and report back here.

Your number may come up and thats all that matters. Names are all in Thai. I dont know how they manage foreign names. Also it is only those who registered on the app. I registered at Market Village yet still have a number. If you do not have a number go to the Hua Hin Hospital they will advise your number.

You had to put the 13 digit number they put on your appointment, Probably starts 6 and is followed by a few zeros.

No. There are so many links etc it is much easier to ask at the hospital even though they are not fluent in English

As I said before, you can do this in less than 30 seconds, which must be more convenient than a visit to the hospital.

[Edit] I fully sympathise with the link confusion. I don't think anybody spoke out louder than me in the beginning about the numerous links, QR Codes, etc. However, I've discarded all of the crap, and the 2 links I have given in the last few posts are all that you need to keep track.

When are they going to get the balls to admit publicly that Sinovac was an embarrassing mistake and cancel future orders of it and change the emphasis to more reliable vaccines. - Probably never - 'loss of face!'

Talking of embarrassment, getting a contract to supply SE Asia with AZ hasn't worked out well either.

So 600 out of nearly 700,000. That's less than 0.1%. And how many seriously ill?

Isn't this the vaccine doing it's job?

I'm not so sure. These guys that have caught it are in the front line, in direct contact with the bug. How many of the 700,000 are actually getting that close? You could say that I've not caught it, and I'm not even vaccinated, so why are we bothering?

My son-in-law is just coming out of his 2nd period of quarantine because they have little confidence in the vaccine i.e. he's fully vaccinated, but even the remotest contact means quarantine.

[Edit] Of course, only 1 death so far, so that is a big positive.

But to be fair, they make you quarantine in the UK if you get pinged by the NHS app that you’ve been in close proximity to someone who tests positive!!

Well the report only states one death and one critical but it's early days. (And do we believe the stats?)

Among countries with both high vaccination rates and high rates of Covid-19 infection, most rely on vaccines made in China

However it goes on to say:

Many of the countries and territories that approved vaccines by Sinopharm and Sinovac are developing nations that can’t compete with wealthier countries for vaccines developed in the United States and Europe.

However they keep talking about it being the best option for 'poor' countries:

Probably, but my son-in-law is a front line medical worker here, and he has been in actual contact with patients on both occasions.

Well, if we said that only 6,000 of these medical personnel throughout the whole country had frontline contact with possibly infected people then we'd still be looking at only 10% contacting Covid-19. Putting that side, of the 600 who did contact Covid-19 how many actually became ill enough to need treatment rather than just isolate? That would be a good indication of efficacy, or lack of it.

Just because he's vaccinated (with any vaccine) doesn't mean he can't be infected and be infectious. He therefore should be kept away from non-covid patients who may be at high risk if they were to be infected.
