Due to a tooth nerve problem I've been drinking cold beer out of a can with straw for the past few days. I've never done that before.
I'll tell you if you don't know already, you'll fall foul of the evil brew much faster with a straw than drinking the normal way. I think simply a matter that more goes in faster, when you think the opposite should be true. Bottoms up.
'They say' that the straw takes the bubbles out of the beer so the alcohol gets absorbed into your bloodstream faster. I don't believe it. Female companions in champagne bars used to (still do?) use a swizzle stick in their glasses of champagne to take out the bubbles so they would NOT get drunk. They should be the experts.
you can buy beer kits from lazada from shops in BKK,
add water and sugar/malt extract
then either keg or bottle.
you can make beer that is much better quality than any commercial ale or lager made in Thailand.
I am currently tucking into a keg of IPA beer , its fresh and tastes great and all done at home,
have some riwaki ale aging now, should be ready for march 18ish
its much cheaper and better quality than anything you get at 7/11
Definitely not tried it but using Google I found that they have a wide range of beers - not sure it’s 300 but coincidentally, one of my favourite beers Fullers London Pride was listed at 300 Baht for 500ml
Draft local beers were much more reasonable - 99Baht for 500 ml of Singha!!

Insane price. Have to be desperate for a taste or much richer than me. For imported beer I'll stick to supermarket Kaiserdom dark at under 200 Baht for a litre.
I used to buy London Pride, Fullers ESB etc. at Lotus very occasionally, but in a restaurant it's silly prices.

I wouldn’t disagree with you - I can’t remember the name but there was a German? Deli near the back of the old shopping mall that used to sell London pride (and other imported beers) for about 150 Baht but that was pre-Covid days and it is no longer there!!
Is it actually open yet? Or is this just pre-opening spiel? Last time I looked in Bluport, it didn't even look like any work had been done. They are in Bkk as well. Anywhere selling a better selection of ales has to be welcomed. It's just keeping up with a new trend in Bkk malls of craft beers being sold and wine bars appearing.
Yes, or 490 or whatever the standard is in Thailand now.
Edit: I haven't seen them in 7-Elevens, but that's probably due to the monopoly that controls it not allowing competitor's products. My go-to shops are now CJs and Tops for better beer selections.
