Don't be to hard on the chef(s). The thread kind of meandered off into 'If you can't buy it, or you can but it's horrendously expensive, you can make it yourself'.
I think it'd be a great idea for a new thread with recipes (using locally bought produce) for western favourites. I won't start it, because I can't cook, but I'll try and nudge Mr.VS to contribute.

I remember we had a recipe/food thread at one time, maybe someone better at searches than me can find it!!

There was a recipe thread a while back. Perhaps if we ask BB nicely, he'll dig it out for us.
