Guys, can we calm this down please? Let's keep jokes in FOO and stop the bickering. Dr Mike is doing a great job on answering as many questions as he can; and his organisation is aiming to provide a long awaited top notch medical facility in Hua Hin.
Surely it's going to be to everybody's benefit to keep Dr Mike on side.
Sure BB providing we get some truth and solid facts

Judging from his CV, he can be my doc any day, retired or not.

Last week you said it was easy!! That's what done for services they are currently providing and you were right it was easy. The staff were helpful and not a waste of time at all. They may not be able to tell you prices of services not coming online until later next year, shoulder-chip removal etc, but that's not unreasonable.

I think we have different definitions for the word 'truth' Richard
The hospital is no doubt going to be providing a great service to us all, and have gone to the trouble of getting one of their doctors to spend a lot of time on the forum asking residents what we would like to see them provide, FOR US. That's fairly rare and much to be grateful for imo. Your the one here launching torpedoes at a new member, based on your hearsay, I've only been supportive.
Do you really think others considering involving the community like this are going to be encouraged by unsubstantiated attacks like yours, they've only been open a few days and you're already on their back.

Here's some facts for you guys so we can get off the baloney wagon for awhile:
I went to Hua Hin Hospital about a month ago with hip and knee pain. Asked for an Xray to help determine if it was Bursitis or Arthritis.
Got the Xray and saw a young lady Doctor who informed me I had Osteoarthritis in my knee.......when I said, what about my hip? (which was the primary source of my pain) she continued to tell me my knee was my problem. A lovely young doctor but I ran up an 1,000 baht bill and didn't really get a good answer. Mind you, I use Hua Hin Hospital regularly when the need arises as it is better and cheaper than San Paulo or going to the local doc in Cha Am after hours, which I also do when I need medicine for something ordinary.
Next, a couple of weeks later since my pain and discomfort were worse, I went to Bangkok Hospital at 2:00 p.m. after golf on a Thursday complaining of the same hip and knee pains. I had noticed a few days earlier they had a big sign saying the emergency room and outpatient clinic was open.
Got the Xray, saw another Doctor, obviously more experienced and older than the young Doctors you tend to get at HH Hospital. She showed me my xrays and indicated my problem was with stenosis, not the knee or hip joints, and pointed out everything on my xray to me. She gave me two medicines, a ten pack of Norgesic (muscle relaxer) and a ten pack of Arcoxia (pain reliever), and sent me on my way with a 1,900 baht bill. The difference in the bill was the medication.....the xray charge was 700 baht, same as HH, Doctor was 200 baht, one hundred less than HH, and the medicine 1,009 baht, 900 more than HH........but most importantly, this time the medicine worked, and nine days later my pain had completely disappeared!!
So here is a real life example for you to mull over.
Thanks again to Dr. Mike for sticking with us .........I, for one, and really looking forward to meeting him and the opening of the full facility.
Great T.I.G.R. and I hope your experience really sinks in with some of the members who post so much unhelpful and hearsay rubbish.
My personal experience with BH over the years is excellent and everybody here should be most thankful that they have established a hospital in Hua Hin.
Courage is grace under pressure and when circumstances change you change your mind.
What can I say?
I've been there, with a family member that San Paulo wasn't able to cure because of ignorance, but a young doctor in our brand new Bangkok Hospital made the correct diagnosis, which turned out to be a urine infection, put her on medication and after three treatments (once a day) she's back on her feet and can take care of her business.
A big thank you from me to the new Bangkok Hospital!!
Why care about the cost, now when you are able to live and walk again?
The secret is: pay your insurance if you can't pay the hospital bill!
If you're not able to pay the insurance, then face the facts but please, stop asking stupid questions.
Remember the sign in one of the bars; "Free beer tomorrow".
It's always a tomorrow, but you have to pay for it if you want to survive!!
Last Friday I had a fall down some stairs in Bangkok (the stairs were not hurt). Apart from nasty bruising, had soreness around the rib cage and painful there when standing up. So yesterday I go along to Bangkok Hospital for an xray. Inquired at counter about prices and was informed that each xray would cost Baht 350 and doctor consultation Baht 300. Had 2 xrays (front and side). Negative damage. Bill came to Baht 1,000, which I quite happily paid.
Observation: Nurses and doctor spoke good English. The female greeter in the lobby, spoke poorly.
I am in HH on Thursday and friday. I am talking to the Swedish Assocation on Thursday evening and have some appointments Thus and Friday..
I will be at the hospital on Thursday afternoon at about 4pm and if anybody would jut like to have a look let me know. Quite frankly there is not much to see at the moment, no patient rooms for instance but if anybody is interested Email me --- Moreton@bgh.co.th and let me know.
I spent Thursday and friday in HH. I had a pleasant day on Friday, visiting the Managers of several leading hotels and seeking their opinions as to the medical needs of their guests.
The next phase of the hospital, the Out Patient Clinics is progressing well and the date of opening is now scheduled for the first week in January. If the same rate of progress is maintained we will be opening the third and final stage in April , but maybe in March.
We have had over 1,500 patient visits to our Emergency room which is running smoothly.
Can I make a suggestion. The flow of patents is never even in ERs, Understandably the mornings from 8 to about 11 are very busy times. If you need to be seen, but do not feel there is any hurry, early afternoon is a quieter time and you will be seen quicker at that time.
I had great dinner with friends at one of the over-the-water restaurants---Bangkok has noting to rival that!
My wife was in pain and agony for unknown reasons at 3 in the morning. Took her to the Bangkok Hospital, received a warm welcome despite the odd hours. Doctor highly thorough and capable, diagnosed her with an allergy, injected antihistamines, prescribed additional medication and viola, we could return to our home and finally get some sleep. Total damage about 700 THB. EXCELLENT SERVICE!
Dr Mike,
I know you've said previously that there will be general pediatricians at the hospital, but are there any currently in attendance ? Or if part of the next phases do you have an approx. timescale? Not an emergency at all, just something we'd like to get checked out properly.
Me and the wife have been down and found the service to be excellent, the cost was a pleasant surprise too. The doctor's consulation charge was actually less than at the hospital we used to use in town.
