Stupid to call those bars
shit
Apart from you, who else is calling them that?
Yes, we all know it's available, and hasn't stopped being available, but don't you feel stupid having to turn up with your own 'aluminium glass or cappuccino cup' or does it give you a kick knowing that you're breaking the law? I have no problem with what is going on, but just feel people are being manipulated whilst the BIB are laughing their socks off. They know they have a ready stream of tea money whenever they can be bothered to get off their arses to collect it. This has very little to do with Covid, and is all about control.
Actually, on the aluminium cup thing, my son reckons its the best thing to come out of Covid. He says he will continue to take his aluminium cup after Covid is long gone - he reckons it keeps his beer much cooler than drinking from a bottle sat in a condom.
Read all comments somebody named handdrummer called this shit bars, NOT ME. I don't take my aluminium glass to bars, they have available for customers. In many bars I even got my drinks in a normal glass. We all know that BIB take bribes, that was always the case with bars even before, I agree and am happy to break the law with their help.

Not sure I understand all the angst? If people are happy to frequent such places and they are open to cater for them, then live and let live as far as I am concerned.
It's pretty much the same all over. Some bars / pubs attract and some repel. People have different tastes and reasons for visiting one place and not another. Each to their own.

I've no ill feeling to the establishments that are open, nor the people that frequent them.
I just feel against the overall situation. Using my son's video from last night, I know that under normal circumstances he wouldn't normally be seen dead in a bar like that, or if he was, it wouldn't be a regular thing. Leading up to Covid, this was the type of bar that would have been struggling. Full credit to the owner for seeing a business opportunity, and making hay while the sun shines.
My ill feeling is towards the authorities who are making these rules, but turning a blind eye for financial gain. Meanwhile people are often forced into dingy conditions to break these stupid rules. Stupid, because they most definitely are being ignored in many places, and Hua Hin's Covid numbers are still basically under control. Continued enforcement of the restrictions is absolutely pointless. They should just open up, and give people the freedom to drink at the places they would prefer to drink at. Forcing drinking underground is achieving next to nothing.

"This has very little to do with Covid, and is all about control."
And that, my friend, is the story of governments worldwide.

I think they'll have to double the size of the MIB force throughout the country shortly, as they will be dealing with a tsunami of establishments who simply won't care any longer what the "regulation of the day" says. I predict the week before New Year the restaurants and the bars will take the gloves off and simply proceed with business.

(post by myself copied here as maybe a better thread)
Cha-Am can sell alcohol (legally) in restaurants from Dec 1st. Hua Hin can't. According to Surf 102.5, the authorities there are encouraging bars to apply for restaurant licenses (!!).
I wonder where the tourists (whether thai or from overseas) will stay. Somewhere they can drink legally until 11pm , or somewhere they have to ask if a restaurant is serving beer/wine and then get it in a superman cup.

I've noticed up by us, soi 6, that a few restaurants are now serving openly. Seems to be more each week.

As are the restaurants in hotels including Intercontinental, Holiday Inn etc. They've openly served alcohol for a while without any problem.

My son attended a birthday party at Holiday Inn last weekend, and it was strictly no alcohol. It was a big money party, but the rules were being enforced very rigidly. Holiday Inn is probably the only place my son has been refused alcohol since restrictions started.

That's very strange. My daughter and her boyfriend, only last week, ate at the Holiday Inn and they shared a bottle of wine. Equally so at the Intercontinental.
N.B. It could be that there was a different view for a 'party' as opposed to just a couple dining.

I wasn't there, but my son and his wife said the dining room was about 50% full, and nobody was drinking. They brought out a bottle of non-alcoholic bubbly (don't ask me why

), and even that was very closely scrutinised. Afterwards they moved to the rooftop bar for cake, and there was strictly no alcohol there either.

Sorry, I think you are miss-informed. There is no ban on alcohol.
They have actually banned transparent glasses in pubs and restaurant's.

Looks like we are now in a blue zone!
So all those bars who registered as restaurants can open normally!

We've been a Blue Zone for a while. Those bars can open, but no permission to sell alcohol, unless I've missed an announcement somewhere.
