If this mystery woman has been waiting over a month longer than me, how much longer would I have to wait. Or is the mystery woman just another Ford lie?
Yes and in Asia I suppose there is always the chance that they've just flogged your truck to someone who was prepared to pay more to get one earlier.

Hi.

I went to test drive the new ford ranger here in the Channel Islands Yesterday, thinking should this be the Vehicle of my choice I could have a family member order it in Hua Hin, thus saving myself a couple of months.
Anyway, the sales guy here says the wait is around 16 weeks, but if ordering the wild track then your looking at June next year delivery.

If you google the New Ford Ranger, it appears this problem of waiting is not just unique to Thailand.

It's not the waiting that's bothered me too much, I've been managing to keep smiling (most of the time over that). I even accepted that I was probably being lied to about the delivery timescale. However, when they check the computer, confirm that your car has arrived, but then pull a rabbit out of the hat that somebody else may have a stronger claim on my car - that is simply not on. This can only put me to the back of the queue again :?

Was your wife with you BB - could she not ask to see the paperwork for this mysterious woman customer to at least try to confirm if she exists or not?

Yes, my wife was with me - they don't speak English at Ford Hua Hin. Probably the only place in Hua Hin that doesn't. The mystery woman was found on the computer, and of course, computers don't lie.

The 1:30 phone call was made, and they said they would call back in 30 minutes. Another lie!!

Eventually called them back as the promise to call me in 30 minutes was just another lie - no it's not my car (any more). My car will be on the next shipment from Bangkok (deja vu?) - it will definitely be here sometime this month :butt:

Exactly the same lies as last time - they can't even be bothered to think up new lies.

Anybody else considering a Ford - please think very carefully. The Ford dealership spins their lies to draw you in. It's a seller's market with the 3 month lead time (albeit, they lied to me, saying only 2 months). If I tell them to cancel now, it means I have another (probably genuine) 3 months to wait with another dealer. However, it will be 3 months, and I won't be held to ransom when my car arrives. How many more times will my car be the next to be dispatched from Bangkok? How many more people will they miraculously find who have been waiting longer than me?

Being told that my car has arrived today, but there is somebody who has been waiting longer does not sound right to me. As you might have guessed, this has really P'd me off.

This is my last word on the subject today - need to get my blood pressure down a bit.

Not a pick-up, but I arrived in HH on the 26 Aug last year, had already done a bit of research on what I wanted and went to Mitsubishi and ordered a Pajero Sport. Fortunately they had the model and colour (silver) that I wanted in stock, so took delivery of it 5 days later on the 1st Sept - it is only after reading threads like yours BB, that I realise how fortunate I was. Hopefully yours WILL be with you before the end of the month

Hi Big Boy,
for me i would be mighty pissed off being denied my new rugged mans toy i would tell them that i am the new motoring journalist for the Asia Times On Line, and start taking some pictures of location, premises, and the managers, and tell them "will be posted online forthwith as a bad review" and just wait for them to try and save face! take em to task big fella. :D

Pretty dangerous game, I'd say. That might be a difficult line to take back if immigration somehow get involved!

Ford, true to their reputation are proving to be as unreliable as ever. The car, which they actually said was mine (and I even touched it), was given to somebody else who had supposedly been waiting over one month longer than I had. They have promised me a car by the end of this month. However, they've told me the truth yet, so why should they break a habit of a lifetime?

I only hope the car, if it ever arrives, is more reliable than the Ford sales team.

The answer to you question is NO vehicle yet.

PS: Thinking back to the very first time I visited Ford in Hua Hin, somebody had run a key down the side of a newly delivered Ford Ranger. At the time, I couldn't understand how anybody could have done that - the fog is clearing :cuss:

Hi BB,

Sorry to hear about your woes with Ford,we run a new Fiesta and if the build quality of the truck is the same you will be impressed - the car is not perfect and I have driven others to check, it suffers from knocking front shocks and a baulky gearbox.
I was in the motor trade in UK and if we dealt with ciustomers like you have been dealt with we would have been in deep sxxxx!
