Re: TV series worth watching/downloading

Post by Big Boy »

We've just spent the last 3 days watching Happy!.

I'm not sure what's just hit me. In places it was hilarious, and in others it very gruesome. Most of the time I think I was on some sort of psychedelic trip, and there was even a story (in places). I think what I'm saying is WTF was that?

Has anybody else watched it? Did you manage both seasons? Can you tell me what was going on? Or was it all a crazy dream?

I think I enjoyed it.

I had mentioned it a while back as did another member. I thought it hilarious. Season 2 was, to me, a little disappointing but hard to beat season 1!!

HaHa I'm glad I'm not the only 1. As I said, I'm still a bit stunned, but think I enjoyed it.

Point is, it's not on pirate bay(S1 & 2 were but not the rest...)
Seasons 4 and 5 are on Pirate Bay.

S03 is on LimeTorrents https://www.limetorrents.info/search/al ... eau%20s03/

Go down to the option under torrent name, then click on Magnet download
Ok great got S3
Should be OK with pirate(4&5) as I've used before
Cheers for the help

I'm watching series 6 ( the latest one) of Line of Duty, and Explosive is a good description. If you have not seen this before, then go back to series 1. It is about a police anti corruption unit in the UK.

Forgive my cynicism and I did enjoy the first 3 seasons but then for me it descended into an attempt to Hollywoodise what should be a gritty British police drama. Take it from me, low to to middle rank cops do not live in expensive flashy flats and drive around in Audis. Just got rather silly..but hey what do I know?

I've enjoyed the series from the beginning. Was a bit peed off with season 6. I thought I'd save it and watch the whole season without having to wait a week between episodes. Did a marathon at the beginning of the week only to find out at the end of episode 6 that there's an EPISODE 7. So have had to wait anyway. All other seasons consisted of 6 episodes!

It's a good 18 months + since I watched 5 seasons of this but I don't recall it being 'glammed up'

That would annoy me too...

Even if it was, its still high quality drama not to be missed, IMHO

After I finish The Bureau(Les Bureau des Legends) this week I will download S6 LOD

All on pirate Bay?

Thanks

Ps what's good specifically on Netflix recently... any tips?

If it gets Starmer and Boris referring to it at Prime Ministers Question Time (referring to corruption and bent coppers [MP’s]), it gets my vote as one of the best programmes on UK TV. There’s talk about this being the last series - if that’s so it will by missed by me and going by the ratings, millions of others!!

With regards to Line of Duty, before the hype over season 6 (tabloids, breakfast TV, social media etc.), I can't honestly remember hearing about it... :?

Have since started watching as all seasons are on iplayer and must admit I'm thoroughly enjoying it. :thumb:

1 season down, 5 to go......

Just a heads up; the new Sky One sci-fi show Intergalactic has just been released on line. Mixed reviews, but I'm downloading it now, so I'll see for myself soon enough.
On the outskirts of outer space 124 years into the future, Ash Harper, a fearless young cop and galactic pilot, has her sparkling career ripped away from her after being falsely accused of treason and convicted to exile in a distant prison colony. While aboard the transport ship, Ash's fellow female prisoners stage a mutiny and seize control, intent on reaching Arcadia -- a mythical paradise occupied by ARC resistance where criminals can be free.

If I had piles of dosh stashed away, I wouldn't have spent all those years teaching in Thailand! No, Sky Sports only, my street performances don't bring in enough for a full subscription...

I've just watched the first episode and I'm not particularly impressed. My main problem is with the characters - particularly the stereotype female prisoners. You know what I mean, the ones that try too hard to look 'hard' and don't quite pull it off - the sing-song tone, crazy smile brigade, with the odd short-haired butch lesbian amongst both convicts and guards. I'll give ep 2 a go, but not yet.

Some snippets from the reviews:
Intergalactic is really best thought of as Prisoner Cell Block H launched into hyperspace, but, thus far, without the kind of rich character development we saw in the classic 1980s Aussie drama.

At least by 2143, we seem to have solved our diversity problem, as the cast overwhelmingly comprises women and people of colour, but I’d have appreciated a bit more diversity at the fantastical creatures level, too, and ironically enough, a bit more evidence of old-fashioned human emotions and motivations. Still, at least they’re not all wearing masks, keeping two metres apart and still in lockdown. Something for mankind to look forward to.

There is something uniquely grating about bad sci-fi. At best, the genre can pose fascinating questions, depict extraordinary worlds, and have a lasting impact on public consciousness. At worst, it’s six actors talking gibberish in a spaceship.

Intergalactic, Sky’s new dystopian drama about a group of female inmates who commandeer a prison vessel travelling through space, is certainly better than the worst examples of sci-fi. But not by a great deal.

Almost without exception the characters’ lines are woefully badly written: “I’ll kill anyone who stands in the way of my escape” and “Who says they don’t teach you anything in fascist school?” are good examples.

Intergalactic, Sky One review - lovely CGI, shame about the drama

Intergalactic review — a bunch of antiheroes roam the galaxy, on the hunt for a plot

Space. It’s no place for the over-thirties. Nor is the future generally, it seems, which is odd because, given the strides that geriatric medicine is making, you’d have thought that 2143 would resemble Torbay, just with more exciting mobility scooters.

^ Christ, after that review I'm having my doubts whether to bother at all..... A Return to "Prisoner Cell Block H" even if "upgraded" to space scares the absolute cr@p out of me!!
