Really? VPN over perfect quality? There's no comparison in Hua Hin, but I accept you have other problems down there.

"Perfect quality" with inane childish ads every ten minutes and still the chance of buffering which PPTV36 does all the time anyway?

VPN, thanks.

As I said, I accept you have problems down your way. In Hua Hin, Thai TV wins hands down.

Sorry to burst your bubble BB but why on earth would I want to watch and listen to a bunch of talentless Thai commentators babbling Khrap Khrap Khrap every other word when it's freely available on BBC i player, ITV Hub and other streaming services with a relatively cheap VPN and perfect HD picture quality. Horses for courses matey.

The Thai TV had a dual language feature last time, and you got the same commentary as you'd get via VPN.

I hate the occasional buffering with the VPN. Yes, I have a VPN, but rarely use it for live events, especially if they are available on Thai TV. Maybe you need to try it before criticising.

/\ BB old bean. You make a lot of assumptions. Indeed, I have tried both options or else I wouldn't have bothered to comment.

You must have a much better VPN than me then. I only have Express VPN, and there is no comparison watching sport using the VPN and Thai TV with a dual language facility.

Either that, or your Thai TV connection is not that good. I have several Farang friends who have not bothered with a decent Thai TV connection because they just wouldn't use it.

Good news for you BB ...

Prawit guarantees World Cup matches live on Thai TV
Thai football fans will be able to watch World Cup matches live because the government will buy the rights to broadcast them, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon said on Wednesday.

The 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar will be played from Nov 20-Dec 18, with 32 teams contesting in 64 matches for the most prestigious trophy in football.

With the tournament less than three weeks away, fans were getting worried because no broadcasters in Thailand had shown interest in securing the rights to air the matches.

Gen Prawit said the government would use the budget of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to buy the rights to air all the games.

Details would be announced as soon as the deal is concluded, he said.

Yes, very good news. VPN is OK, but not as perfect as the Thai broadcast will be. I have AIS and a cheap subscription to True, just for the footie, so I was fairly well covered for not using VPN, but I should be triple protected now. We have to see it Coming Home :D

Nothing like a good u-turn from the Thai junta which has better things to spend money on ...

Plan to air World Cup now in doubt
A government plan to purchase the rights to broadcast the 2022 Fifa World Cup is up in the air after some National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) board members voiced their disagreement, citing budgetary constraints.

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon on Wednesday said Thai football fans would be able to watch World Cup matches live because the government would buy the event's broadcasting rights.

With the tournament less than three weeks away, fans were concerned as no broadcasters in Thailand had shown an interest in securing the rights to air the matches.

Gen Prawit said the government would use the NBTC budget to buy the rights to air all of the games.

An NBTC source told Isra News Agency that during an NBTC board meeting on Oct 28, Sarana Boonbaichaiyapruck, chairman of the board, proposed drawing on 1.6 billion baht from the NBTC's research and development fund to buy the broadcasting rights.

However, some board members disagreed and called on the NBTC Office to conduct a study on whether the proposal will be economically viable, the source said.

Reckon its more "economically viable" to buy more decrepit Chinese submarines or warplanes instead of bringing some happiness to the people.

VPN, thanks.
The only announcement that I've seen so far with details of the coverage didn't mention it being on PPTV36.
Thais nationwide will be able to enjoy live broadcast of 64 matches of World Cup on True4U, Amarin TV and Channel 5.

This may have been superseded but as I say, if it has I haven't seen it.

My go to streaming service with or without VPN is https://www.vipstand.se/.

And aren't the Beeb and ITV sharing?

So somebody, somewhere in the Government seems to be spreading fake news - isn't that illegal these days? It just seems these dicks pride themselves in spreading bad news, regardless of whether it is true or not.

It'll all be alright on the night I guess.
