One thing I'm noticing on social media is folk saying things like, "You messed with the wrong generation" and "This generation will bring change" etc. I'm not just referring to Thailand here. Many from the UK n US, too.

I'm all for positive change n stuff but give me a break! To refer to Gen Y (which includes me) and Z as some sort of superheroes, superior to all past generations, is ridiculous. I've never seen such an abundance of wet wipes in my life. A lot of them should have just been wiped on the duvet or summat.

The one thing that is sure, and the protests are successful, it wont be a student that takes over. Be sure there are a bunch of decrepit hi-so sat in the wings somewhere, waiting to step into the governments shoes, and it will just start over again. TIT.

Even the so-called "leaders" of the movement don't show up for rallies and let their minions take the rap.

They're all just pawns being manipulated. Much like the BLM protests. At least the Thailand protests are about an actual real thing that needs change though.

That is the problem. They play this game every few years, but nothing changes. Most countries have elections, Thailand has protests/coups.

Anyone know of any account where live streaming is actually working.

The dictators are really pushing the boat out at the moment.

Edit - okay now. Must have been a temp. blip.

I admire the restraint and non violent approach of the protesters,

I'm sure glad "Lost" knows all about the BLM movement in the U.S. As a white person formerly married to a black women in the US and two adopted black children I have a radically different first hand view and knowledge of the reasons for the BLM movement. Most Whites can only view the situation from their own white perspective. Quite a bit different when your of the other color and get looked at, shunned, overall discriminated against plus the added benefit of dealing with the Police who would just love to "teach you a lesson" when beating you up or shooting you in the back for being in their neighborhood where you don't belong.

Lets keep the racial situation out of this economic Thai situation.

:offtopic:

This thread is about student protests in Thailand which is not even remotely linked to the BLM movement.

The leaders were all arrested and bussed away to a lockup somewhere. (Edit, link added: https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/cri ... om-prison/ )

The struggle is the same as in times gone by, the youth wanting a better future for themselves and the country, while the elite, intoxicated on power, are getting fat off the pie and dictating to the downtrodden while millions are in poverty.

The difference this time around is that the students have access to much more information through the internet - even if the junta is trying its hardest to censor it, and half of it is facebook shite.

Tend to agree with BB though, even if pumpkinhead and his goons are overthrown, the next leader is likely to be another old sycophantic billionaire dinosaur and the bullshit will continue. Change needs to come from the bottom up, not the top down.

Can I repeat the question I asked in FEB, to start this thread. Is this entirely a BKK protest or is it echoed in other parts of Thai.

It has been going on in other provinces too, as I stated in answer to your original question. Bangkok is the heart of it all though as it is linked to Thammasat.
