There's has never been a man or woman who was in the US military who didn't eat SOS at least once. If done right it's quite good, especially for breakfast or after a night of heavy drinking! Pete

Just a slight contradiction on the menu: "Restaurant Open Friday and Saturday 24 hours Sunday thru Thursday 5am till 10pm" and then "Breakfast Served 24 Hours a Day Every Day"

Oasis and Morning Bread (my previous favourite before they changed their suppliers) both open for breakfast at breakfast time. I'm sure many other places do as well.
Thanks Pete - it doesn't sound so bad. I'd certainly give it a go - probably the beefburger would be my preference over the dried beef. Dried beef can be a bit chewy for this lazy eater.

Just for reference, the cooking softens it up nicely and it's quite tasty, not dissimilar to corned beef. Here's a simple recipe, easy to make here with ingredients available. Pete

Ever been south of the Mason-Dixon line? Pork sausage is the basis of the gravy. Dried beef is an ingredient of a gravy served on toast that in the US military was called 'Sh*t on a shingle'.
